Today is the end of day 9 with no alcohol. I woke up this morning with a kind of beast mode mentality and got a lot of school work done. I officially graduate college in about a week at 40 years old, and I'm stoked on that. It hasn't been easy. I'm a single dad with 2 young kids and I've struggled my entire life, basically. Alcohol has always been my go to. But now in my life, it has depreciating value and liability. I have a good, stable job, with great benefits for my kids and I. Graduating is great and I am proud of that, but I cannot live a life of drinking like I have. There are a lot of areas where I need to improve.

@reredevaux Imagine if he got hurt at the Preakness. All you'd hear is you should've rested him more, greed, etc. Damned if you do, damned if you don't

@LloydCh06965157 Nice! Both my kids sleep in my bed with me on the nights they are with me and I love it! They are 8 and 6 and I don't care that they still do one bit

Recovery process day 74: “Tiny”, as she’s affectionately known, climbed in bed with me in the middle of the night. It’s fewer and far between lately she does that, but it makes me happy we’re not completely out of that phase just yet. Have a great Wednesday ✌️

@OneHappyDestiny Clearly you are tackling this head on and are fighting. Keep your head up and try to focus on those kids and your own long term health. You can do this!!!!

@OneHappyDestiny Congratulations! Your kids will notice a change in you. You'll be subconsciously paying more attention to them and their feelings and it will make a huge difference to them.

@OneHappyDestiny Self reflection is the hardest act. To face the reality of who you are and make changes is bravery most people can never muster.

@OneHappyDestiny We are all works in progress with room to improve. But enjoy your accomplishments sir. You deserve to be happy and proud of yourself. One day at a time. One foot in front of the other. Any time you feel weak, just look at those 2 lilttle miracles and take a breath. You got it!!

@OneHappyDestiny Good for you. Congratulations on being a college graduate shortly. Big accomplishment. Alcohol seems to work for a time and then it doesn't. In time, it will take your job, your health, your home and, tragically, your children from your life. A destroyer. You are free now.

@LakeFrontStreet I was 5 months sober when I started school in Jan 23', made it to 1.5 years sober. Then I celebrated after a calculus exam. I slowly started drinking more and more after that. I drank about 3-4x a week and usually at least 6 beers each time, sometimes 12 on the weekends.
