Relevant context: Twitter was basically the reverse of this for a decade and a half. Actually worse: President Trump and many others were outright banned under that era’s oppressive censorship policies. e.g., You could be banned for saying totally true things about the trans issue — here and across most other social media platforms. Elon’s acquisition of Twitter could be framed as the single highest ROI ($ —> influence) political gambit of the post-COVID era. But it may not be that calculated. Elon seems pretty genuinely into free speech. In many ways, what Nate Silver is showing here is just how badly left wing views hold up to scrutiny among literate people once the censorship and legacy prestige credentialing games are lifted

These are the Twitter/X accounts with the most engagement so far in 2026. I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken.

At a fundamental level, there’s no difference between the MAGA cultists and the Leftist scum The leftist lunatics have gone off the deep end with their open borders/communist/Islamist/transgender ideologies. Whereas MAGA are brainwashed cocksuckers who would gladly let Trump fuck their moms/wives, and somehow defend that as a good thing. It doesn’t matter that Trump has betrayed them on every single issue he promised before the election. Both of these brainwashed cults are a disease and a cancer to this earth.

As an Iranian watching this rescue mission unfold, I was praying the American pilot would make it out alive, not just for him, but so the Islamic Republic could not use him as a bargaining chip or claim some twisted “victory.” At the same time, I felt a deep envy. Your government sent elite special forces, million-dollar aircraft, and moved heaven and earth to bring one American home. No hesitation. No excuses. In Iran, the regime uses human shields and recruited child soldiers to clear minefields during the Iran-Iraq war. They treat their own people like disposable tools. They are now recruiting child soldiers as we speak. The Islamic Republic has zero regard for human life. That’s the brutal difference. One side risks everything to save their own. The other sacrifices their own to stay in power. This hits hard when you have lived under both realities.

Anyone who claims asylum and then travels back to the country they supposedly fled should be instantly and permanently disqualified. If the country is safe enough for a holiday, it is safe enough to stay in. It’s almost unbelievable that this even has to be said.
Simon Hankinson@WatchfulWaiter1

These cases illustrate how utterly shot the US asylum process is. These were children of regime leaders claiming to be oppressed by that same regime - and going back for visits. Yet they got asylum, LPR, and damn near citizenship.

I am a Democrat and a lifelong human rights advocate. I very much hope America is as successful as possible in our war with Iran and that the Iranian regime will be neutered. I fully support our troops. Any Americans who think otherwise should be condemned.

I’m noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why we’d risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they don’t understand is also the reason people can’t be made American by a piece of paper.

Bless him. It’s just tiring. When people ask me what it’s like to be deaf when I’ve worked hard to accomplish something, it’s hard not to turn on them. It’s hard to not say, are you so narrow minded or indoctrinated that this trait is all you see? We are whole human beings. Not just an identity politics trend. And it’s flat out bigoted to reduce us to one trait.
RedWave Press@RedWavePress

NASA pilot Victor Glover CLAPS back after being asked what it means to be the first black man to visit the moon: “It’s the story of humanity, not black history, not women’s history, but that it becomes human history.” “I also HOPE we are pushing the other direction that one day we don’t have to talk about these first. That one day, this is just—and listen to this—that this is the human history.”

Ben Appel’s WSJ piece “I’m Gay, but That Doesn’t Make Me ‘Queer’” is excellent and necessary. @benappel bravely stating what so many of us feel. Our sexuality doesn’t require rejecting what’s normal and legitimate. It doesn’t force us to embrace “queer” ideology or become an identity insurgent. He nails it. Queer theory isn’t gay rights; it’s a misguided rejection of shared human values and reality itself. It’s rare to see this perspective from a gay male in mainstream media. Well done, Ben.
Ben Appel@benappel

I’m in The Wall Street Journal today. I’m Gay, but That Doesn’t Make Me ‘Queer’ “My sexuality doesn’t obligate me to embrace a particular ideology or to reject the moral inheritance of the society that made my life possible.” wsj.com/opinion/im-gay…
