Have we considered the fact that maybe Griffin and McGonigle would rather just play pro ball than go to college and that is why college baseball is a good product?
Baseball America@BaseballAmerica

"Konnor Griffin would have been LSU's shortstop." "Kevin McGonigle would have anchored Auburn's infield." Under MLB's latest CBA proposal, college baseball would get an infusion of the top talent that currently signs straight out of high school. More from @jjcoop36 here: buff.ly/m6YOFld

@HornTakes @AllAmPotatoes @WallaceCreed24 I literally showed you an A ball player getting game reps in a big league spring training game (in a spring training where he appeared in 6 other big league games) if you can’t induce from that he’s probably working with the big club I can’t help you

@PackTheRic @AllAmPotatoes @WallaceCreed24 You did? All you did was move the goalposts from “big league” to “professional”. If you can show me that A ball guys get tons of work with the big league coaches, I’ll concede that. I just don’t believe that is true.

@PackTheRic @AllAmPotatoes @WallaceCreed24 And I’m pretty sure in my very next reply I said the kid in A ball is not working with big league coaches and players and I know you then changed the messaging to “professional” which isn’t the same thing. I don’t know much about this but at least I’m not moving the goalposts.

@MSbaseball39 @CBCJakeMck I’m not disagreeing with you in the slightest my points are strictly about the lower levels of college ball potentially failing with this change. I think objectively they automatically see an increase in the caliber and amount of talent

@PackTheRic @CBCJakeMck Yes. Definitely would. Better not be a late bloomer though. Or get hurt. Or fail a class. Or have a bad year “developing”. Point being, a billion dollar corporation is putting the bill on college. That no program has turned a positive profit ever.

Pretty sure I said big league in my original reply to you And you said in response they do “none of these things” which is just false as I’ve shown. It’s okay to admit you don’t know how this works or that the best way to get developed into a professional baseball player is to work with professional players and coaches

@MSbaseball39 @CBCJakeMck Naturally, a higher concentration of talent at the D1 level (with the big time HS guys who would otherwise get drafted) naturally shifts the talent down the line Which pushes guys down to different levels

@PackTheRic @CBCJakeMck Boom? Who is going to fund all the “high talented players” in the JUCO/NAIA/D2/D3 levels? You’re not getting “more players”, you’re getting the same number of players, less places to put them. Hence 240 players don’t get drafted per year with 20 rounds going to 12.

@MSbaseball39 @CBCJakeMck There’s no way on earth more players (assumingely at the division 1 level) means JUCO baseball crumbles, especially not with the transfer portal JUCO/NAIA/D2/D3 baseball would BOOM with this change

@CBCJakeMck This makes mid majors more of a JUCO setting. JUCOs become non-existent/watered down. College baseball is about winning, MiLB is for development. IMO.

@Vern_Funquist Can tell you haven’t watched much baseball. It’s never the douchebag type teams that win it all in Omaha. Believe what you want, but it’s always the teams that treat the game itself with respect that win it all. Everything always comes full circle.

This year’s tournament had 7 “non-power” at large selections 2025 and 2019 (I don’t have to go back further to prove you wrong) both had lower outputs of these teams The mid-major at large representation almost doubled from last year to this year Please shut up

Troy was not a Cinderella. A year after being left out of the NCAA Tournament, @TroyTrojansBSB reached Omaha. Its run should challenge how college baseball thinks about parity, access and at-large bids. Via @JacobRudner ⤵️ baseballamerica.com/stories/troys-…

Imagine you make it to Omaha, get eliminated, go to fill your jar/bottle/etc. with dirt from the field as a reminder of this amazing accomplishment just to later realize it was actually dirt from “Chapel Hill, North Carolina”
Hurrdat Sports@HurrdatSports

North Carolina's Carter French travels with a bag of dirt from Boshamer Stadium and sprinkles some on the field in Omaha for good luck. The Tar Heels can clinch a spot in the national championship today vs. West Virginia.

@PackTheRic I’m sorry I must have missed all of y’all’s games in Omaha. Also I think you took my post a little too seriously. But hey, glad you decided to get that off your chest.
