Presenting on variation on management of pancreatitis across the UK @asgbi today.
Cholecystectomy rates at 30days post gallstone pancreatitis are below 50% with a large amount of variation by trust.

Some takeaways for me:
-20% idiopathic; need strategies to make sure definitely isn't stones
-absolute no's high for lower severity disease. Big wins from changing care for this group Vs severe

Key news from @DeMadaria and #WATERFALLtrial in acute pancreatitis. Stopped after interim analysis shows aggressive fluid arm (lactated Ringer's 20-mL/kg bolus over 2h followed by 3 mL/kg/hr) have 🔼necrosis, 🔼ICU admission and 🔼organ failure.
Bottom line: Use fluids wisely!
