Our first deployment coincided with the magnitude 7.1 #earthquake in Japan. Our OBSs detected the signal here in the North Atlantic, 8,500 km from the epicentre

We successfully retrieved all our instruments and are on our second round of deployment! The data from line one is looking good, and we even managed to pick up the Japan earthquake!

Seventy two hours in and all fifty OBSs have been deployed for the first instalment of data collection! 🌊

After just over a day of sailing, we made it to our first OBS drop @ midnight! We’re deploying ocean bottom seismometers to record acoustic waves and using the data to interpret the structure and thickness of the oceanic crust south of Iceland 🇮🇸
