@yaboi69lol @slcmayor Plenty of studies show the benefit. See the ones done here in utah elementary schools.
English

@Vandy_Montana @slcmayor See the study in utah schools I posted. This is not true. Also, masks don’t hurt kids.
English

@ProbeMe @slcmayor TLDR for you. Cloth masks are 10% effective, surgical masks 12%, K95's not fitted correctly 3%.
This doesn't take into account people fiddling, dropping, using more than one time, etc. Not real world conditions, which decrease efficacy exponentially. But sure, keep hurting kids.

Impressive to see @UofUHealth incredible ER teams today; rounding with Stephen Hartsell, Christy Hopkins, Colleen Connelly, Melinda Patterson, & their teams. We're fortunate & grateful to have them on the front lines of #COVID19 & are all safer b/c they are here. #HeroesWorkHere

@DGlaucomflecken @aao_ophth I tried wearing them on late shifts in the ED to help me fall asleep afterwards. They did nothing but make me look like Bono. 4/10.
English

So should you buy blue light blocking glasses? I say don’t waste your money. The @aao_ophth would agree with me. They won’t harm you, they just won’t do the thing you’re probably buying them to do.

@JarmanAF It has some crazy privacy invading spyware on it... but so does Facebook!

@slcschools People will be unhappy no matter the decision so thank you for putting health and safety first in your reopening plans. As a physician and parent I appreciate. @GovHerbert should learn from your example.

@slcschools I was going to be frustrated RE the Fall school plan no matter what. I appreciate that you are looking out for the safety of kids and teachers first with remote school if we are still orange. @GovHerbert could learn about making unpopular but good decisions.
English

@DGlaucomflecken @NotKyle01 @JarmanAF @jmugele I also agree that it doesn’t change much in centers where ophtho is available.
English

@NotKyle01 @JarmanAF @jmugele I agree with this. What you find with POCUS doesn’t change anything in our end. That being said, I’ve learned to pick my battles and would rather POCUS be done on flashes and floaters than, say, a traumatic eye injury
English

@NotKyle01 @JarmanAF @DGlaucomflecken @jmugele a bedside US has other utility than just looking at eyes so it’s a much more available tool than specialized equipment. Not trying to argue but have seen it’s utility for ophtho triage and transport and offering a different perspective than your statement against it. Cheers.
English

@ProbeMe @JarmanAF @DGlaucomflecken @jmugele If we’re arguing resource austere environments: would posit an ER doc learning to do a dilated fundus exam likely has a much higher specificity and sensitivity. Or, the purchase of a retinal camera (even a non-mydriatic one) would likely be more cost effective and a better exam.
English

@NotKyle01 @JarmanAF @DGlaucomflecken @jmugele Out here in the Wild West it can change the way we triage and transport patients from Wyoming and Montana where they have to come to Utah to see a specialist. Flying someone is much more expensive than a bedside ultrasound.
English

@JarmanAF @DGlaucomflecken @jmugele When performed in an emergency room it had zero bearing on the decision making tree. If a finding is reported: patient goes to Ophthalmology , if no findings: pt still goes to Ophthalmology. POCUS outside the Ophthalmology office is a waste of healthcare dollars.

(1/ )There has been an overwhelming interest in the use of hepatic waveforms as a congestive parameter. With social media, somewhat obscure concepts like these are quickly brought to the forefront and implemented in clinical practice. Many are eager to incorporate #VEXUS but...

English

So proud of @davycro as he finished his last shift (a night shift no less) at @erlangerhealth. He is headed to Salt Lake City for an ultrasound fellowship with @ProbeMe, and I know he will go on to do amazing things. Keep an eye on this one guys!

@GovHerbert You said you would let science guide your decisions. What happened?
