If the water companies can't survive without dumping sewage in our rivers and seas, LET THEM GO BANKRUPT. Then nationalise them for nothing. Thank you, Boycott Water Bills and @juliewassmer for inviting us.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that any man who is this fixated on a woman’s sexual history will be a possessive, controlling, abusive asshole. Men like this don’t want a partner. They want a blank slate.

"If we stiff all the investors then we can have it for free!" Wholly true, but if you stiff the investors then the other name for that is theft. Which is, you know, against the law? Even, against international law.

The government claims that nationalising water would cost >£100 billion. That figure has been repeatedly dubunked - by Professor Dieter Helm, & Professor Ewan McGaughey at the People's Commission for Water, among others. Water belongs in public hands. vist.ly/4vetf

@DavidHe91696725 @worstall Okay. So the debt is money owed to people or more likely entities, right ? So when they go bankrupt the assets are sold off and distributed amongst those debtors. You can't just say "it's bust, we'll have your stuff".

@Alonso_GD Whilst UK prices are high, this is a ridiculous comparison. Tnere are other reasons.

When I moved to the UK in 2019, I paid £45 a month for electricity. I now pay £185. Every 2-3 months I get an email from my supplier raising my direct debit by a few pounds

This could have been avoided. Failure to insulate every home, end reliance on fossil fuels & decouple energy prices from gas left us exposed to energy shocks. Now we must act: Cap bill rises after June. End fossil fuel addiction. Lower bills, permanently.

Why do companies give 1%, 3%, or 5% raises to their current employees, but 10%, 15%, 20%, or 35%+ more to new hires?

Excellent speech from @ZackPolanski, time to bring water into public ownership 👏👏👏 We don't have to destroy nature for shareholder returns We don't have to rack up bills while a handful of people profit Every penny could be reinvested back into the system

😞 Our offer of 30 hours of government-funded childcare is no longer saving families £7,500... ...it's now saving them £8,000! 😃 Labour is delivering for working families and tackling the cost of living.

Some of the medical aid I’ve brought directly with me to Cuba, as Trump tries to strangle the Cuban people. Today we’ll be receiving tonnes more as the Nuestra America Aid Convoy arrives. Aid is arriving all the time from Britain thanks to solidarity. Donate to Viva Cuba below.

@We_OwnIt @juliewassmer If nationalisation is the magic fix, how come publicly owned Scottish Water is £4.6 billion in debt and has similar sewage spill problems as the private companies?

@We_OwnIt @juliewassmer we could (and should) nationalise them for nothing anyway. seize them off the criminals that have been running them all these years without compensation and tell them they are lucky they are not going to prison and/or being made to pay back their ill gotten gains
