@RetroRobson @danbloom1 @TimRoss_1 Even if Starmer were to agree to go tonight (which he's made very clear he's not going to), electing a new Leader would still take time. Parliament still needs to be opened whatever happens.

SCOOP by @TimRoss_1 Buckingham Palace privately asked whether Charles should proceed as planned with the king's speech People familiar say the king’s team made clear the importance of protecting the monarch from any impression that he is being used for political ends

@MittensOff @Kimindex You are so right! Farage is where the real stories are. Did you observe the usual suspects this morning, literally falling over each other, to grab Ministers for their views, as they left Cabinet! It was absolutely shameful. We don't have an independent MSM, they are all bought.

Crazy scenes on the streets outside Nigel Farage's £850k house in Clacton-on-Sea as the press fall over each other to ask him about: Who owns the house, and who paid for it. His £5m personal gift from a billionaire and other millions in party donations. His alleged pact with the same billionaire to fix an election that saw him and Johnson trouser £1m. Okay there's no one there, they're all prancing up and down Downing Street, doing what they are paid to do by other dodgy billionaires. #Farage #ReformUK

@MittensOff You want to know who owns it , the registry is publicly available. That person will have bought it, either with a gift from their parents or more likely Farage.

@sargo_dy @danbloom1 @TimRoss_1 Indeed. I can see the logic behind asking though. If Starmer were to quit tonight, it would be sensible to postpone it (maybe) and they wouldn't really know.

@danbloom1 @TimRoss_1 The King delivering the speech is the default. If he were to not, that would be a much bigger political intervention, basically broadcasting that His Majesty agreed with the rebels.

This is probably the most serious allegation in modern British politics and, if true, would mean that an offshore cryptobillionaire rigged our 2019 election. In any rational world it would lead to sever consequences. Willanyone do anything about it? Will they fuck.
Narinder Kaur@narindertweets

Extraordinary allegations from @benhabib6 !! Ben Habib alleges that Nigel Farage & Boris Johnson were paid £1m each by Christopher Harborne to essentially rig the election in favour of Johnson. He also claims the undeclared £5m "gift" Farage received in 2024 from Harborne was payment for Farage to take over as party leader of Reform UK and stand in Clacton.

@JayEvansPR @campbellclaret Unless there's two donations, it seems unlikely someone bribed someone in 2023 to do something in 2019. What exactly did Boris do in 2019 ? "Collude" to withdraw candidates ? Why would you pay money for him to do something which would massively benefit his own party ?

@sheppcat1 @Beverle22804497 @campbellclaret Unless he has evidence other than his say so (which he almost certainly has not) then it becomes he says vs he says. It seems unlikely that someone would bribe Johnson to drop the candidates ... what did he actually *do* for the money ?

@dave43law So, Boris Johnson got a bribe in 2023 to collude with Farage over the 2019 election, is that your argument Worzel ?

@dailybritainonx Two obvious problems. (1) Why bribe Johnson so Farage can withdraw candidates. (2) Farage has always been in charge of Reform, UKIP and its various instances.

The former deputy leader of Reform UK has made an explosive allegation on a live stream: that Harborne paid both Farage and Boris Johnson £1 million each in 2019 to stand down Brexit Party candidates and hand Johnson his 80-seat majority - and that the undisclosed £5m gift in 2024 was payment for Farage to take over Reform and stand in Clacton. @seeyouinpub @MittensOff @metpoliceuk Depends if he has any evidence. At all. I doubt it. For one reason, why bribe Johnson, why not just bribe Farage ? What did Johnson do for the money ? Allow Farage to withdraw candidates.

The real story shouldn't be Starmer it’s this. Ben Habib casually dropping an allegation that Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson were each handed £1m by Christopher Harborne to fix an election. Truly astonishing claims but sure, let’s all pretend the headline issue is Starmer. The £5m bung is the tip of the iceberg, our press should be camped outside Farage's girlfriends house not 10 Downing Street waiting for the police to arrive #ReformUK #Farage

If found to be true, both Johnson and Farage could be behind bars, and I don't mean at the pub. Can't be ignored @ChrisMasonBBC @BethRigby despite the Downing Street frenzy. Needs investigation @metpoliceuk

@fergustp @Or1ginalSandman @SamJRushworth 5 minutes research would tell them the 2008-2020 period of very low rates was unusual. Took me a minute to find this. I have no sympathy for them. I mean, it's almost impossible to go down, the base rate is so low.

@RetroRobson @Or1ginalSandman @SamJRushworth Pretty certain the figure they quote a mortgage on was at 5-8 & 12%, the fact is that people over spent and relied on rates that were bound to rise significantly. Im surprised so few people went for 10-15 year deals as they were never going to go down any less

I met someone in my surgery this weekend who had to sell their home because they could not afford the huge increase in their mortgage when their fixed rate came to an end during Truss' self-made crisis. Stop trying to re-write history.
James Cleverly🇬🇧@JamesCleverly

Side note. To the Labour MPs who shout “Liz Truss” whenever the economy is discussed, should note that the UK 10yr bond yield under Truss peaked at 4.7% This morning, because of Reeves’ and Starmer’s ineptitude the 10yr bond yield is 5.02% Labour crashed the economy.

@nw_nicholas I don't understand the defence here. The rule states all gifts/donations received in the 12 months prior to taking office have to be declared. There are no ifs or buts.

If Electoral Commission and/or Parliamentary Standards take no action against Farage for £5m bung I will consider crowdfunding for private prosecution for misconduct in public office. I know he wasn't in public office when he received it. He was when he had to declare it.
