@Sir_DavidMartin @elonmusk @Starlink @elonmusk @Starlink - while we greatly appreciate and value the benefits of Starlink in General Aviation, and many of us have been purchasing Mini's to utilize the service and update our aircraft with mounts, etc., this 285% makes it a no-go.

@elonmusk @Starlink Elon—GA pilots adore Starlink. It’s our safety net for weather, comms, everything. Then bam—overnight 400% price hike, speed caps killing us. We scrape by on fuel and hangars already. This isn’t helping connect America’s skies… it’s pricing us out.

@elonmusk Hey @elonmusk Why did Starlink just hose the general aviation community? $1000 a month for internet when we were getting it for $65 is ridiculous

@Starlink it would have been good to have more than 1-2 days heads up with changing starlink doesnt work with priority plans in general aviation. it takes 3 days to get setup with identify verification to a aviation plan. now all of us GA users wont have internet for a week

@elonmusk Your changes to starlink are alarming. Roam speed is now limited to 100mph. The new aviation plan is 5x the cost and offers 1/5th of the product now 20gb from 100gb. This is a step backwards for General Aviation Pilots and I respectfully request you reconsider this move

Super disappointed @Starlink for changing the groundspeed for general aviation operators like me. The equipment cost $300 when I purchased it a few months ago, and $50/month was affordable for in-flight wifi. Jumping to $250 now for an aviation plan is simply not tenable.

All my small plane pilot friends are big mad at @starlink today. Their plans just went up 5X in price overnight, and the data included went from 100GB to 20GB. I know it's a small group of people, but this is causing many to cancel this service as it's now cost-prohibitive especially with the lower bandwidth service. Starlink was a complete game-changer for being connected from a small plane, and I think it would be cool if they left it where it was so normal folks in piston aircraft could enjoy it, and reserve the higher-price tiers for turbine aircraft speeds, 300+mph. It's got to be the tiniest revenue difference for SpaceX either way, but it's a world of difference for safety and connectivity to the American general aviation fleet of small planes. cc @elonmusk

@ClintFiore @Starlink The $250/month isn't bad. The 20GB of data and $10 per GB after that is AWFUL. General Aviation is so much safer w/ Starlink. Lats year Icalled my aircraft manufacturer from the air at 10,000 feet to diagnose an issue.

@elonmusk @Starlink Please provide the reason for the increased fees for Starlink usage > 100 mph overnight with no notice and the day after you charged me for the upcoming month, going from $65 to $250 immediately I’d just not fair. This will negatively affect aviation safety.

@elonmusk Today, in my private General Aviation, my Starlink stopped working. Being a recreational pilot I was surprised by the 100mph limitation on my Starlink mini.. The new lowest-speed tier does not reflect the operating realities of most general aviation aircraft. HELP

Over the past few years, I've watched hundreds of general aviation pilots equip their small aircraft with @Starlink and share overwhelmingly positive feedback about its performance and reliability. Many of these pilots own **multiple aircraft** equipped with Starlink, amplifying the impact of recent changes on their operations and budgets. However, my feed today is dominated by many of those same pilots expressing frustration about much higher costs under the new aviation-specific plans just introduced. The new Aviation plans: (Aviation 300MPH at $250/month and Aviation 450MPH at $1,000/month) provide just 20 GB of included data, with steep overages ($10/GB for the 300MPH tier or $50/GB for the 450MPH tier). This represents roughly **4–5x higher base costs** than many were previously paying (e.g., $50–$65/month for 50–100 GB or more on Roam/Priority plans), while delivering far less included data. For equivalent usage—such as reaching 50 GB—pilots could now face hundreds in overages on top of the base fee, pushing effective monthly costs to $550+ (or much higher for data-intensive or multi-aircraft users), compared to prior rates often under $250 total. (Note: These changes stem from Starlink capping standard Roam/Priority in-motion use at 100 mph / ~87 knots, requiring the dedicated aviation tiers for typical GA cruise speeds above that limit. This has led to widespread backlash, including online petitions from affected pilots protesting the sharp cost increases and reduced data allowances for general aviation users.) Starlink has been a massive game changer for the general aviation community just as much as with the airlines. Maybe existing customers can get an extended 6-12 month period at the old rates? This way they have time to find better options, that don’t exist😆🤣 Any ideas or feedback @elonmusk? x.com/clintfiore/sta…

@GrotonPilot @Starlink @elonmusk Even if the idea weren't so bad, the wording of the email was total unforced error. That "Your options" section? GFY. Also, they forgot the most important one: 3) cancel all of it.

@DJSnM @ClintFiore @Starlink This is likely to upset a fair number of aviation Youtubers. It treats pilots with Starlink like they're all wealthy - which is not typically the case!

@elonmusk @elonmusk and @Starlink please add a 200 MPH Aviation plan. Lots of single engine pistons who won’t pay $250. They will pay $100.

@elonmusk @Starlink Cirrus pilots here—SR22T cruises 220 knots, new 87-knot cap kills us. Already have hundreds of pilots discussing having to cancel starlink. Need a GA-specific lower cruise speed plan! Let’s Go!

@Sir_DavidMartin @elonmusk @Starlink @elonmusk @Starlink If this is a calculated move to manage bandwidth, I understand the logic. But Starlink has become mission-critical for GA. It’s a safety layer for weather, comms, and ops. What’s the long-term vision for aviation users?
