@HermanZeGerman I think Carlos Tevez was the main man in all this (for players at least)

have just stumbled upon this article on the remarkable snood outrage of 2011, even madder than I remembered

@SirthomasVIII @ElmParkRoyals Tbh I agree with you, just pointing out the unideal circumstances. Losing so many key players lays bare more obviously than ever there's no discernable style of play. As soon as individual quality can't scrape us through games, we look toothless and clueless. There's no blueprint

@Run__Jimmy__Run @ElmParkRoyals I disagree. I think we are a rare case where we could have all of our players back from injury and the football would still be dire. Obviously there would be more individual quality on the pitch and more goals with Marriott however the negativity and style of play wouldn't change

Leam Richardson won’t be leaving the club anytime soon. We need to get through the next 3 matches and recruit well in the summer. If we’re smart (I’m sure we will be) any new signings will be joining us will fit our plans regardless of the manager over the next few years.

@ElmParkRoyals As has been repeated by others, as much as I don't have faith in LR, who on earth do we recruit now? We missed the Luke Williams train so now emphasis is rebuilding this summer. But it's on LR and his team now to turn fan sentiment in the final 3 games with positive tactics

@ElmParkRoyals Marriott, R Williams, Ward, Doyle plus Elliott all injured for the crucial run in. Arguably our best striker, winger, midfielder & defender all injured for the run in. We still should have been playing better football but I think most teams would struggle with that.

@harryy6666 @TalkReading If we stick with LR I only see us sacking him by October / November then we start this whole stupid mess all over again.

@TalkReading I don’t know if it’s statistically accurate but I’ve noticed often teams that finish a season badly start the next one badly. Hope I’m wrong because our form has fallen off a cliff recently.

The last few games have been worrying. Lack of intent at such an important part of the season is something the manager should be getting into the team. Never truly felt like we “went for it” in these matches. Season basically over now. #readingfc

@TalkReading Stevenage away was enough to show we never had what it takes to make playoffs and get promoted. Like you said, never felt like the players were interested in the fight when the going got tough.

@SimFromBucks He has had appalling luck with injuries and things probably would have been different otherwise, I have no doubt... BUT you always lose fans with negative tactics. I fear us sticking with him then sacking again Oct / Nov and getting stuck in that cycle

i've no ill will towards Leam as an individual - STAR Q&A made me warm to him and tbh I feel a bit sorry for him after today's chants i also still hate the idea of sacking someone this soon but #ReadingFC were so abysmal today that I struggle to see he deserves a preseason

Brutal, nasty policing on show here. Tempers flaring for some reason, but rather than kicking people out… …the police are making people stay and watch. #readingfc

Dellor: ‘why did it take 80 minutes to get a shot on target again?’ LR: ‘We’re learning, we had to change again due to injuries, we wanted to be a better version of ourselves and Doncaster played the conditions better. There was nothing in the game’ #ReadingFC

@ElmParkRoyals Said it time & time again but when your style of play is not entertaining you have much less room to manoeuvre when results dry up. The same is even happening to an extent at Arsenal with Arteta. We had nothing to lose and still played weapons grade backwards football. No excuse.

Things are going from bad to worse.Despite being in 8th position before today there’s a growing animosity towards Richardson. He’s talked a lot about getting multiple windows, but I’m not sure that will be happening. We are collapsing

@Readingfanman I tweeted a couple days ago something along the lines of 'if you can't take the handbrake off now' then when can you. We have nothing to lose anymore really, yet playing every game like all we need is a point from it. Maddening.

It’s not even that it’s shit really. It’s just so dull. It’s like every match is a pre season friendly played at 70% pace counting minutes down to full time. #readingfc

@cristian444999 Considering Argentina's own genocidal and displacement actions in the 19th century I've always thought they should probably sit this one out if we're discussing things from 150+ years ago. They'll never mention that though...

Playoff hopes over. 4 games with nothing to lose. If Richardson can't release the shackles for a run in versus 3 of the bottom third then I honestly don't have any hope that it will happen next season. Let's play some exciting football. If not, time to say goodbye 👋 #ReadingFC

@Handbags82 @TheTilehurstEnd We've been abysmally unlucky with injuries too. I really don't mind that our playoff push has slipped away because I don't understand how we'd have ever won it with so many players dropping like flies.

@TheTilehurstEnd I think a significant proportion of the fanbase is getting a reality check. We're a strong team in the division and on a much more stable footing, but we need time and patience to build the squad over successive seasons after the turmoil of Dai. Case in point...? Lincoln City.

It feels fair to say the mood on Reading Twitter is as sour as it's been all season. Either way, what a shame 25/26 is turning out like this: so glum, so frustrated, so devoid of excitement

Long ball forward, Yiadom switched off and Sorensen in behind blasting an equaliser past Pereria 30 seconds to go. Absolute disaster moment

@FootballCliches There's a certain type of jobbing English midfielder that I feel has been lost to the mid noughties era. The ones which would be clamoured to get a pity cap. Your Gavin McCann's, your Leon Osman's for example. I think Mark Noble was the last bastion of these types of footballer.

Recording FOOTBALL CLICHES today, and welcome any topical Adjudication Panel matters, but would mainly like your detailed, hyper-specific nominations for The Extinct XI, a lineup of player types, roles, characters, sub-sub-categories & anybody else who's firmly out of fashion...
