@sjmaple Up until the Huddersfield game (6 games ago), we had the 3rd most points in League One since Leam came in. I’d suggest that last minute goal was the turning point for the form over the last 6 games.

@TalkReading Does the data point to any significant differences in players or opponents when looking at the parts of the season where LR was the messiah, vs more recently?

Posted about Richardson’s PPG when it was going well, so only fair to do the same after some bad results. Since he arrived, Reading have the joint 9th most points in League One. Leam has the 7th highest PPG (1.5) out of Reading’s 35 managers in the last 100 years. #readingfc

@sjmaple There’s really a minimal difference in PPG with and without Marriott - you take the top scorer out of any team and PPG probably falls more than this. Richardson’s PPG with Marriott: 1.53 Richardson’s PPG without Marriott: 1.47

@TalkReading Would be interesting to see stats with Marriot vs without, to show how much reliance we have on him, and as a result how much of a bearing players like Marriot and Wing have on the team vs the manager.

@steven_sawers How is PPG pointless when it literally translates directly to where you finish at the end of the season? Comparing it to xG (an expectance model) is quite the contradiction.

@TalkReading Points per game average is the same as expected goals. Pointless stat. Get people in the box and balls out wide and whip that cunt in and if it doesn't work have fit enough players to get the hell back

@Ergo_Mark Yep and that stat assumes all wins from all managers are worth 3 points 👍

Top 10 in the league for assists, xG over-performance, goals from outside the box, successful tackles, interceptions, shots blocked and accurate free-kicks… Congrats to Lewis Wing on his place in the @WhoScored League One Team of the Season ⭐️ #readingfc

Jack Marriott scored the most goals per 90 mins (0.81) and was the biggest outperformer of his xG (+8.8) of any player in the EFL this season. The best in the business 👏 #readingfc

I do think the owners will have learned from mistakes. Hopefully we see a more consistent profile of player brought in, and done so earlier so the manager has a full pre-season and a fully fit squad. They’re one year in to fixing a decade of mess so certainly will take more time.

There was a big missed opportunity to continue the high pressing style that we built under Sellés and continued under Hunt last season. Having an identity is key and that one was good to watch, fit the Academy and got results. Although hard to replace the profiles of who we lost.
