A few pics from Tuesday night's Book Lovers Supper Club murder mystery, 'Murder in Betty’s Tearoom', written by @RuthWareWriter. I played 'Ronald Plugg' the waiter with possibly the worst Yorkshire accent ever heard this side of Harrogate, and you might recognise the suspicious looking characters next to me 🧐🤣! It was a packed house at the @HassocksHotel with fish and chips for all and books sold by the wonderful @steyningbooks!

@SeanCarpenter Oh brilliant, I assumed they'd blocked me but perhaps they scarpered instead. People are strange. What a thing to spend your one wild and precious life on - impersonating a writer on twitter.

@crankynanky That type of clouds also signals a change in the weather - which is plot-relevent. So I contest the "drivel" part, but I absolutely support anyone in putting down a novel that's not hooking them - so please cast The Lying Game aside with no guilt and find a novel that you enjoy!

@crankynanky I'm sorry you didn't like it. I'm not sure whether you know this, but mackerel clouds are a specific type of cloud that's supposed to look like the pattern on the underbelly of a mackerel. I've always loved the saying and it seemed apt for a coastal novel en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mackerel_…

@RuthWareWriter Usually the 1st paragraph is supposed to draw you in but… The Lying Game… “pink mackerel-belly clouds” seriously?? Couldn’t get past that. Drivel as my Brit Mom would say.

As a writer myself I know how much effort goes into writing a book, planning, ploting, editing, reading, more editing, over weeks and months etc. So I do feel a bit guilty when I gobble up a book in 2 days, sorry @RuthWareWriter (The Perfect Couple)! It was fab though, thank you!

@bertsbooks Just on the last few pages of The Women in Cabin 10 by @RuthWareWriter. Very good ❤️ I wanted to read the book before the film adaptation is on Netflix.

I was honoured to share a fab event with @RuthWareWriter, who is 10 books ahead of me in her career & has an upcoming Netflix series... an absolute queen! And so lovely. Not read Ruth's books yet? I recommend One Perfect Couple, The Turn of the Key & The Death of Mrs Westaway 📚
