I’m sure this post will irritate some people on this website, but X isn’t real life, thankfully.

I occasionally feel pangs of gratitude that Canadian conservatives, unlike their American counterparts, largely resisted Moscow’s overtures and maintained their moral clarity on Ukraine.

@ctvottawa Oh. Some bit of common sense. Could they also study why my street has not been plowed over the winter... and find my councilor who is to busy to answer emails?

@sieenns @Rvguy18 Another fact, one of the reasons these larger stores don't exist in more dense settings is because of the very zoning & tax policies the city controls.

A Lockheed Constellation, once used by Trans Canada Airlines, was brought to the Constellation hotel in the late 1980s and became a convention facility for the Regal Constellation Hotel, and later served as a fine-dining restaurant and bar.
After the hotel closed in 2003, the aircraft went up for sale, but instead of remaining in Canada it was purchased and headed to America & restored, now on display at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. They restored it to its original Trans Canada Airlines livery.

Has anyone ever taken a cold call from airduct cleaning services and booked service? Ever? How does this persist? If you have booked service in this way, please identify yourselves so your appropriate reward may be delivered.

@sieenns Most government contractors rely on profit to stay in business. Make it viable for a business to operate and they will open up.

@Rvguy18 There's also a good will factor - Canada's major grocers are not trustworthy actors.

@sieenns Government is already doing that. Loblaw got 12 million for new fridges a few years back. The cost of operating a grocery store by the city will be much greater than subsidizing a location.

@Rvguy18 The reasons they end up being food deserts are complex and propping up a private enterprise that isn't viable also costs tax dollars. In Toronto they already have supply chains established for other programs. I don't think progress happens without a bit of creativity. We'll see.

@sieenns Unfortunately, that would make sense. If there is a food dessert, make it easier to open a business; reduced property taxes ect. Grocery business is nit easy. The city will just flush away tax dollars.

@Rvguy18 I'm curious to see how it goes in Toronto, because I believe part of the point is to put them in "food desert" neighbourhoods where there are no grocers close by - meeting a need, rather than creating competition.

Pro tip for cleaning up your X feed and avoiding a hack: • Never accept a DM you don’t recognize • Block anyone who uses profanity • Block pseudonyms that haven’t read the story • Number of followers doesn’t matter Better now. And how!

Ring road is a great idea. Hunt Club was supposed to be one as well. Until subsequent councils destroyed it by approving poor traffic plans.
Tim Tierney@TimTierney

News out of this morning’s Mayor’s Breakfast 👀- Ontario’s Transportation Minister @prabsarkaria confirmed that work is underway on a ring road. It’s a major step forward for how people and goods move across our city. And no… before anyone asks, we’re not throwing up any Illuminati symbols here 😅 just the best “ring” we could manage. Jokes aside, this is the kind of infrastructure our growing city needs. Long term thinking, real movement on congestion, and a plan that actually connects. Thanks to @prabsarkaria for the update this morning. Looking forward to seeing this take shape.

NRCAN to track in-office attendance (Ottawa Citizen), This is being done because obviously there’s a problem. Certain public servants are lying about their at work requirements. I have no issue with this. Obviously their unions will get involved! epaper.ottawacitizen.com/article/281479…
