@chitchatstocks Count how many times AI is said in tech earning calls

@Curiousjorge65 @JaredSleeper Has competition really changed though? The barrier to creating an ERP was very low 5-10 years ago. All you needed was to pay developer salaries, no upfront capex to speak of.
English

@JaredSleeper 100%, Rippling an epic company, weight of public valuations are hard to blink at though. I think the market is also saying that competition is about to get very intense, SaaS having zero barriers to entry makes it very hard to scale with GAAP profits. Rippling hard 2 avoid that
English

Workday at $1b of revenue was growing 70%. Workday is now $10b of ARR and worth $30b. Rippling last round was $17b, that growth is priced in!
Paul Graham@paulg
Rippling is still growing 78% a year at this size? This is why startups are valuable.
English

@dwarkesh_sp So these labs went to hyperscalers like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon instead, and in return committed to using their compute.
Is this not the definition of circular revenue?
English

Jensen regrets that when Anthropic and OpenAI first needed billions to scale, Nvidia wasn't in a position to invest. So these labs went to hyperscalers like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon instead, and in return committed to using their compute.

@RealJimChanos @BluthCapital Much easier to measure ROIC now at least!

Capital-lite models transforming into capital-intensive ones. Now playing at a Silicon Valley theater near you.

@matt_slotnick Reminds me of when I asked IT directors if they refactor VM based apps to Kubernetes. They kindly explained that this is NO ROI work and they have a growing list of things they actually need to accomplish.
English

why i'll never understand all of the focus on "vibe code replacements for things that already work"
those are just not the interesting problems. we've been given a boundless power to create... so go create!
Akshay Kothari@akothari
You can use AI to cut costs. You can also use AI to raise your ambition. Too many people focus on the first. More people should be thinking about the second.
English

@matt_slotnick @s_nav123 What does it tell you about GTM "of the future", if even these new AI companies build out a standard GTM organization?
English

@s_nav123 right now it’s mostly ex rubrik which are ex mongo/thoughtspot dna. super strong process and tight ship… mcmahon disciples

@karrisaarinen @bryce After watching his videos over the year + gaining more work experience, I have really come to appreciate how he would solve problems. Often times, little emphasis is placed on how a product or feature fits into the overall experience.
English

I keep thinking I miss having someone like Steve Jobs in the industry.
He had some standards. He cared about quality, coherence, and making great products. He could be ruthless and he had plenty of flaws, but it still felt like he and Apple were trying to make something genuinely great above all else. They had their opinions and you could respect that. They didn't try to force you, but make their case why they think it's good.
Now tech feels driven by trend chasing, fear, scale, revenue comparisons, endless games and everyone talks their book. Investors come first, business goals next, and users last if not at all.
I wish there would still someone like Steve still around
English

@matt_slotnick Also you just two CTO this past week who threw their hands up and said “too hard, I’m out.”
English

@matt_slotnick Going to have to pay a lot more to attract AI talent to come and work at CRM, WDAY, TEAM, NOW. Think of the compensation packages that OpenAI and Anthropic are dishing out.
AI talent doesn’t want QBRs, Businesses process, frameworks, etc. They want autonomy and freedom.
English

yelling this repeatedly in the direction of every scaled software company
Matt Slotnick@matt_slotnick
if every incumbent software vendor took 3%-5% of their FCF and put it towards a small but appropriately constructed labs group that worked exclusively to build net new solutions for their install base, it would solve a lot of their problems
English

@matt_slotnick Impossible to say what % of payroll is split between “keep the lights on” vs. innovation. That doesn’t show up in any 10K/10Q.

@planert41 It’s normal!
Weekends are super busy, also you should try to nap when the kids nap. The worst thing you can do is be “low energy” around them.
English

Dads with young kids
Is it normal to just feel tired and burnt out all the time?
It’s like you don’t even really get the weekend to recover because it’s all just kid stuff the moment you wake up
Arguably the only personal time you have is when they nap (and you’re already dead tired by that time) or the hour after they go to bed but before you pass out
Just trying to figure out if I’m doing something wrong
