Walking 15 minutes straight is dramatically better for your heart than ten 5-minute strolls — even if the total steps are the same. New study (33,000 adults, Annals of Internal Medicine): People who accumulate most daily steps in longer bouts (≥15 min) have significantly lower risk of fatal heart attack, stroke, and all-cause death over 9 years — compared to those doing mostly short bursts. Longer continuous walking bouts create more sustained improvements in vascular function, insulin sensitivity, and post-meal glucose disposal than fragmented steps. Three 15-min walks often outperform one 45-min walk for metabolic and cardiovascular markers. Bottom line: If you’re already walking, why not make each bout 15+ minutes? Do you usually do short walks sprinkled throughout the day — or longer continuous ones? Have you ever noticed a difference in energy, blood sugar, or recovery when you go for 15–20 min straight? Your experience 👇
