The Liberals could form a majority government Monday. What does that mean?

@bruce_mcgonigal Canada's oil has 500 mi of Rocky Mountains between it and the Pacific, 1500 mi of uninhabited frozen wasteland to the Atlantic. Where the fuck is it supposed to go?
English

Note how Canada, despite having at least the 4th largest oil reserves in the world, hardly has any tankers.
Every other oil nation who can cash in on the insanely high oil prices, is cashing in. Especially the USA.
Now you know why Donald Trump wanted the Liberals to win in 2025. They won't compete with his MAGA oil & gas agenda.
Instead Canada is IMPORTING LNG from Australia.
Again, Canada is a mentally broken nation. Very mentally broken.

@YukonStrong @BillboardChris Mark Carney has more support in Alberta than Independence right now
English

For everyone who thinks Alberta can simply vote to leave Canada and take the oil with them, it doesn’t work like that.
A referendum does not automatically achieve independence. Under Canadian constitutional law, informed by the Supreme Court of Canada’s 1998 Reference re Secession of Quebec and the federal Clarity Act (2000):
• Unilateral secession is illegal. Alberta cannot simply declare independence.
• A “clear question” (the proposed wording aims to meet this) and a “clear majority” (not precisely defined, but the House of Commons would assess factors like the size of the yes vote, turnout, and overall circumstances) would create a reciprocal obligation for the federal government, other provinces, and relevant parties (including Indigenous nations) to negotiate in good faith on potential constitutional changes to allow secession.
• Negotiations would cover complex issues: division of national debt, borders, currency, trade agreements, military/NORAD/NATO membership, pensions (CPP/OAS), equalization, Indigenous treaty rights (Treaties 6, 7, 8 cover much of Alberta), environmental obligations, and more. These would require a constitutional amendment approved under Canada’s amending formula (typically involving Parliament and at least seven provinces representing 50% of the population).
• First Nations groups have launched court challenges arguing that the petition and referendum process violates treaty rights and the duty to consult, potentially delaying or blocking certification of signatures.
In short, even a strong yes vote would start a long, uncertain, multilateral negotiation process—not an immediate exit. Failure to reach agreement could leave the status quo or lead to prolonged uncertainty.

@implausibleblog Liberals love multiculturalism because they know it divides people
English

Wow, Mark Carney speaks on multiculturalism (what a contrast to island of strangers Starmer!)
Mark Carney, "Canada is a nation forged through accommodation, not assimilation"
"Through partnership, not domination"
"The founding insight of our country is that unity does not require uniformity"
English

@AntonioTweets2 Elbows up boomers holding productive Canadians for ransom isn't new

@KirkLubimov Our oil is shipped to Texas, so yes some of it probably is our oil....

@kinsellawarren With the money he got from insider oil trading right before the "ceasefire"?

@Polysesouvient @liberal_party 10 is too high lmao you're right. It should be zero as in no limit. Gangbangers have full auto glocks with 30 round mags but God forbid a licensed, taxpaying, law-abiding gun owner wants to shoot a course without reloading every 5 rounds.
English

🇨🇦Canada theoretically limits max number of magazine rounds at 5 for long guns & 10 for handguns. 10 is too high, and 5 is fictional, as demonstrated below. The @liberal_party promised to close loopholes & end exemptions related to magazine capacity, but so far has not moved on this file. @gary_srp @RachelBendayan @DLeBlancNB @marcomendicino

@VeryBrexitProbs Germany built the most powerful military on the planet in roughly 6 years. The US then did the same thing in roughly 5 years. Point is that you can build a formidable military very quickly

If I had a pound for every time a MAGA account bellowed these mad MAGA myths me, I could fund European defence myself.
1. "Europe would be conquered in a week without America"
Europe has 1.7 million troops, 515 nuclear warheads, five aircraft carriers and 1,400 combat jets. Russia couldn't take 20% of Ukraine in four years with a million soldiers. But sure, a week.
2. "Europeans live in no-go zones run by Sharia law"
The "no-go zones" are normal neighbourhoods with kebab shops. The most dangerous thing about them is the parking.
3. "Europeans have no freedom of speech"
Europeans can criticise their governments, protest in the streets and mock their leaders on live TV without getting tear-gassed or shot. In America, immigration agents check your social media, ICE arrests people for their opinions and deports them without trial. "Free speech", American style.
4. "Europeans pay 60% tax and get nothing for it"
Europeans pay tax and get free healthcare, subsidised university, a year of paid parental leave, 5 weeks holiday and a pension they can actually live on. Americans pay tax and get aircraft carriers.
5. "Europe has open borders and anyone can walk in"
The EU's border agency Frontex has 10,000 guards and some of the strictest visa requirements on earth. The difference is Europe doesn't cage children on camera to win votes
6. "Europe would be speaking German without America"
The British Empire fought Germany for over two years before America joined. The Soviet Union lost 8.7 million soldiers fighting Hitler. The French Resistance ran the intelligence network that made D-Day possible. America showed up in Dec 1941. The war started in 1939.
Every single one of these is repeated daily by people who've never owned a passport and likely never will.

@WhiteHouse One card and it's a Trump card. Israel's card is the Epstein files, apparently. Trump's card is what exactly?

@VeryBrexitProbs Last time US won a war without Great Britain was 1776.
English

This is a sitting US congressman. He thinks Britain "narrowly avoided getting its ass kicked" in the Falklands by sailing 8000 miles, capturing 11,000 prisoners and winning the war in 25 days.
American education, ladies and gentlemen.

@VeryBrexitProbs Remember that time you guys very narrowly avoided getting your ass kicked by an Argentina? Might want to sit this one out, sailor.

@JJ_McCullough Separation has less support than Mark Carney in Alberta but they think they will win
English

Oh my so only 73% opposed!
TrendingPolitics.ca@TrendPolCa
NEW: Poll shows support for Alberta separatism at its highest level in five years. 27% would vote to leave Canada, with another 15% open to it “to send a message to Ottawa.” A fall independence referendum now looks increasingly possible — National Post

@tomhfh You're so proud of all the insider trading in DC while your elected representatives throw you under the bus with deficits, inflation, and $100/bbl of oil
English

@_InfoGram_ US always thinks biggest and most expensive = best. Most arrogant military on the planet for sure. Last time they won a war was 1945
English

@VeryBrexitProbs I think Germany proved you can build a formidable force from nothing, quickly
English

MAGA thinks Europe can't defend itself without America. Here's what they don't know.
1. France and Britain have 515 nuclear warheads and 8 nuclear missile submarines.
2. European defence spending hit €481 billion this year. That's more than Russia and China spend combined. The EU's ReArm Europe plan is mobilising another €800 billion.
3. European countries have over 1.7 million active troops. Russia has 1.3 million.
4. EU and UK air forces fly over 1,400 combat aircraft. Their navies have five aircraft carriers, over 60 submarines, more than 120 frigates and destroyers.
5. Europe has over 6,000 artillery pieces and that's before the biggest rearmament wave since the Cold War. Poland alone is adding 212 new howitzers.
6. The British SAS invented modern special forces. The US copied them to build Delta Force. From France's Foreign Legion to Poland's GROM, Europe's elite units are among the deadliest on earth.
7. Europe already has joint military commands ready to fight. The UK leads a 10-nation rapid reaction force across Northern Europe and the Arctic. Finland alone can mobilise 900,000 trained reservists all prepared to fight in arctic conditions.
8. Europe has its own satellite navigation (Galileo), its own defence programme (75 active projects) and is building its own rapid deployment force.
The "helpless Europe" story was never about defence.
It was about keeping Europe dependent and buying American weapons, relying on American intelligence, following American foreign policy.
Thanks to Trump, that now ends.

@YukonStrong @JayGenXer So funny. "Decades". When was the last MP to cross the floor before the Carney show? Oh it was 8 years ago. And it was a Liberal to Conservative floor crossing. Keep whining about everything, it's pathetic
English

@JayGenXer The problem isn't liberals here honestly
It's a 'conservative' party that has invited in liberals and even allowed them to be leader of the party for decades.
Until CPC voters stop tolerating liberalism within, they will continue to be betrayed by floor crossers and\or policy
English

@kinsellawarren Everyone knows it's antisemitic to ask Israel stop blowing up apartment buildings and schools. Those fools!
