Pod listeners have probably picked up from Mike that something went wrong at SPLC, which abruptly kicked him to the curb. He sued and won a settlement. Here, Mike explains what happened. His story feels familiar to me and many others on the beat. michaeledisonhayden.substack.com/p/what-happeneโฆ

The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment. Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law. Netanyahuโs allies in the Knesset just approved a $45 billion defense budget, and the Prime Minister himself also asserted his interest in withdrawing from the MOU with the United States in January. It is fully within their ability to fund Iron Dome and other defensive systems. Our allies who need our military aid must understand that we will provide it consistent with the Leahy amendment and the foreign assistance act.

@AOC AOC released a formal statement to The New York Times confirming my reporting. Notably, she praised the Iron Dome itself in the statement, but said the U.S. should not fund it: nytimes.com/2026/04/01/us/โฆ For more, read my report on NYC-DSA's forum with AOC: cityandstateny.com/politics/2026/โฆ

๐จ URGENT GAZA WATER APPEAL ๐จ ๐ง chuffed.org/project/171225โฆ In Gaza todayโฆ people are not just thirstyโ they are slowly dying from dehydration. No clean water. No safe sources. No way to survive the heat and exhaustion. Empty containers. Dry lips. Children searchingโฆ and finding nothing. โ ๏ธ Lives are now being lost to thirst. At Mohammad Project, and through the direct support of: @ByYourLogic | @willmenaker | @eyuplovely | @iwasnevrhere_ we are delivering clean drinking water to families who have nothing leftโฆ families who wait for a single drop to stay alive. ๐ A child walks for hours carrying an empty container ๐ A mother gives her share of waterโฆ just so her children can survive ๐ Families sleep thirstyโฆ not knowing if tomorrow brings waterโor death ๐ค This work exists because these voices refused to stay silent. Thank you for standing with Gaza when it mattered most. โ Your donation today is not charityโit is life itself. One bottle of water = one more chance to live One delivery = a family saved from dehydration โณ Do not wait. Every moment matters. ๐คฒ Be the water they cannot reach. Be the reason they survive. ๐ Donate now: chuffed.org/project/171225โฆ

It should be clear to everyone by now that if NYC-DSA had followed National DSA's lead and unendorsed AOC, we would have lost her to the winds of the pro-genocide Democratic establishment. Instead, NYC-DSA decided to treat AOC like a comrade with whom they had a disagreement.

A massive repudiation of the people who perpetrated a yearslong hoax that AOC supports military aid to Israel, among other things. I'm proud to be part of the wing of DSA that sought to engage with her and build a stronger relationship instead of hounding her out of the org.

AOC has committed to voting against any spending on arms for Israel, including "defensive" capabilities like the Iron Dome, at tonight's NYC-DSA electoral forum

this resolution does not even come close to adopting the ihra definition, which is something she has consistently opposed. it simply states that it exists and that it is recognized by particular international bodies. she will continue to oppose ihra codification.

Tonight (right now actually) @nycDSA is holding a virtual candidate forum with AOC as they consider whether to endorse her for reelection. The endorsement itself hardly matters โ AOC will obviously win reelection โ but itโs significant as DSA and AOC prep for a potential presidential run in 2028. Iโll be continuing to report on the forum and DSAโs relationship with AOC. Feel free to DM me or message me on Signal if you want to chat anonymously.
