And it’s not even just the content and the outcome of the protests, it’s the *way* they were carried out. It’s first time in my life I saw Democrats (and I mean Democratic voters) act with the unstoppable ferocity, urgency, discipline, rage, that this moment urgently requires.

It’s dipped in salience because fuck the mainstream but those protests were possibly the most epic, beautiful act of resistance I’ve ever seen in my life, at least in America. It’s not an exaggeration that history may look back on it as a Stalingrad moment in American history.

It pains me to say it but yes, Yglesias is right. In general it's a good sign that the most opportunistic and sleazy centrist types are now realizing they need to ditch Israel to save their political future.

@rex_shadao @ColeSandick I agree that the voters aren't blameless, and that shouldn't be ignored, but it was also the fact that the establishment hated democracy and had been itching to overthrow it and the people by that point didn't care because of the deep recession (made worse by the government)

The idea that Biden’s legacy will benefit and not suffer from the fact that he was succeeded by Trump is preposterous and goes against everything we know about how history is interpreted. We don’t celebrate the Weimar governments because they were “so much better than Hitler.”
Cole Sandick🌹🇵🇸🇺🇦🇸🇩@ColeSandick

Couldn’t disagree more. Biden’s historical reputation will be almost Buchanan tier bad, even worse than it deserves to be. We judge past presidents on their legacy defining decisions and Biden botched all of his: Gaza, Merrick Garland, running again, his cognitive decline, etc.

@rex_shadao Oh my god that is so hilariously wrong! The conventional historical narrative is the dirtbag leftist reading, that ordinary Germans supported Hitler due to economic anxiety!

@ColeSandick Did you take history class? There was a specific emphasis about the people of Germany. Namely, no one was to be blamed for the rise of Adolf Hitler more than the common German who went against all logic and reason by supporting a fascist and an antisemite knowingly.

Not only should AOC absolutely start endorsing challengers now, I actually she was right not to do so before. The left was weak during the Biden era and breaking this norm would’ve likely hurt us, but now it’s the centrists who are vulnerable and it’s time to go on the offensive.

This would be legitimately momentous. There’s an incredibly longstanding, entrenched norm of House members never endorsing primary challengers, and AOC has followed it. She’s powerful enough now to both shatter this toxic, ossifying tradition and elect leftists while doing so.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told Axios she is keeping the door open to endorsing challengers to her House Democratic colleagues "if someone crosses some huge line." axios.com/2026/03/19/aoc…

@DisasterAreaPP To be clear when I talk about Afghanistan as a net negative on Biden’s legacy I’m talking about the execution of the withdrawal, not the withdrawal itself, which was good and quite necessary.

@ColeSandick Afghanistan was the right move (albeit unpopular), the problem was none of the party came out swinging to defend it and he was too old to use the bully pulpit effectively.

I have long maintained that Biden will be viewed favorably by history 1) because he was a very good president and 2) he will look even better when viewed between the disaster of 2 Trump presidencies. It’s already playing out. I will be vindicated sooner than expected ❤️

Schumer's The Bailey's are such a striking political image of our age. A politician is making up a pair of Normal Americans, giving them the views he wants Normal Americans to have, and then imposing their imaginary judgement on us. We're living under the tyranny of The Bailey's.

Real America has basically become a dystopic, authoritarian project for elite institutions. They don't have to answer to actually existing public opinion when they can just make up an imaginary, unseen majority center-right war loving Americans who secretly agree with them.
Prem Thakker@prem_thakker

This is a disaster of historic proportions. New poll shows that US voters believe Trump and Vance's war on Iran benefits Israel more than the US at a margin of *27 points.* And the poll was conducted nearly two weeks ago. Imagine what the numbers are now?

Surreal how I can spend months and years arguing that the Zionist project is about reviving a colonial Social Darwinist framework of Might Makes Right as a means of perceived Jewish self preservation and then the leader of the whole operation will just go right out and say it.

In the past 6 days, I’ve seen the mayor sign 2 executive orders to implement campaign promises written by democratic socialists – creating the offices of community safety & LGBT affairs. We *can* build a government responsive to ordinary people. Our opponents’ greatest fear. 🌹
