Hereโs the lowdown on Intel TEEs in L1 blockchains today. ๐งต
First movers like @SecretNetwork pioneered TEEs when only SMB TEEs (e.g., Xeon E-21xx, E-22xx, E-23xx) existed (with small slow enclaves, a few hundred MB)โno enterprise-grade options yet. Thatโs where it started.

This is a similar hack to WazirX and Radiant, where either signer's computers or intermediate interfaces got hacked
imo the likely reasons for this hack are:
- Hacker put some virus in computer/browser of signers, which replaced the transaction with a bad one before sending it to the hardware wallet. This virus could be in any part of the stack (eg bad extension, wallet communication...)
- Safe interface got hacked, and it displayed a transaction but sent a different one to wallet
The end result is that signers saw an innocent tx in safe interface, but a malicious tx was actually sent to their wallets instead, which they signed thinking it was the innocent tx they reviewed before
Obv we cant know for sure till the full postmortem is out tho, this is just my opinion

Bybit ETH multisig cold wallet just made a transfer to our warm wallet about 1 hr ago. It appears that this specific transaction was musked, all the signers saw the musked UI which showed the correct address and the URL was from @safe . However the signing message was to change the smart contract logic of our ETH cold wallet. This resulted Hacker took control of the specific ETH cold wallet we signed and transfered all ETH in the cold wallet to this unidentified address. Please rest assured that all other cold wallets are secure. All withdraws are NORMAL. @buchmanster @lisaisloud @EseMonday1 FHE is being used to make the writes oblivious. Its sole purpose is to shield access patterns in the encrypted cache that lives outside the enclave.

ah yes, we plan to use ORAM. but we also use a light client in the enclave so that every execution must do a round trip with the blockchain which prevents an attacker from grinding the enclave to leak data.
so you're saying you move some of the queries outside the SGX onto secondary nodes using FHE ? aren't there still potential access pattern leakages there?

TEEs are for shared state private computing, and they're pretty much the only option you have right now.
If you argue ZK against TEEs you probably don't understand either technology very well.
If you argue FHE against TEEs, you're a visionary who is living in the future. ๐
