There's a lady on tiktok calling churches saying she needs help buying formula for her baby just to see if they will actually help their communities. She's called 20+ places and so far only a mosque and a tiny little church in Appalachia have offered to help.

@tbarty03 @abby4thepeople Super cool story. Anyway, I also know after reading the Bible for MANY years, Jesus required those in need to PROVE it, provide 3 personal references, turn over AT LEAST five years of tax returns, and, AT A MINIMUM, 3ml of ACTUAL tears before he’d help the needy.

Churches do not have the funds people think they have. Churches also receive MANY phone calls asking for charity. Having worked in a church for MANY years, we never gave out support without meeting the person and never gave cash. A phone call without coming in does not cut it. If after meeting with them, they conveyed what seemed to be a REAL story, we would give a small grocery store gift card. After that, we had applications to be filled out and we not only checked, but double-checked the legitimacy of their needs prior to handing out anything further. Again, funds are limited and we needed to be good stewards of what we had. People have used and abused church funds in the past and many truly were never in need. It’s just a way for them to survive off of other people’s money. Knowing how bad it was before, I can only imagine how bad it’s going to get.
