another thing that’s been bugging me about Born Again is it’s borderline edgy violence. Matt’s most graphic moments in the og show were always questioned, is he a hero or is this an excuse to beat the shit out of people?, while in BA it’s played purely for hype moments and aura

It’s very much a Hannibal S3 type deal where despite it not being the intended series finale, it's a satisfying enough conclusion for the characters that I don't mind it being cancelled anymore. It's also been so long that I don't even want a revival at this point.

He is absolutely a victim, and she should have been blacklisted from Hollywood as soon as she began preying on him. They met when she was directing a movie he was in. She said she was “impressed by his professionalism” during his audition, considering his age. AKA she pulled the bullshit “you’re so mature for your age” card and began dating him once the movie was finished. From the start, there has been a clear power imbalance. At 18, he became a stepfather to her two kids, with one of them only being 6 years younger than him when he started dating their mother. He was 20 when they had their first child, and she was 43. She is all he knows. He was 18 and was starting out in acting, while she was an established director. If the genders were reversed, there would be much more backlash and media coverage of their relationship. She preyed on a barely legal teen. People make jokes online, but she 100% groomed him, and he is a victim who probably doesn't even realize it. It's even more tragic when children are brought into the mix. If he left her now, it would affect their four children, who aren't aware of what their mom did and why it was wrong. He's been with her for the majority of his life now. At this point, I don't think he'll ever choose to leave, but I hope he at least knows that what happened to him was not normal or okay. I also hope he will protect his children so that they are not taken advantage of like he was.

@redderrhetoric People don’t understand the reason why Matt looks cool in the comics is because of the heavy shading, the BA suit mimics that with the black parts on the torso to outline his muscles. I much prefer that to if he was running around in a solid red costume 😭
