Just watched a guy sprint across the office to my desk. He's panting. Tells me he has an absolutely critical meeting in five minutes and his presentation file is completely corrupted. I brace myself for a complex file recovery. I open his laptop. He hasn't opened any software. He's staring at his desktop wallpaper. I ask where the file is. He points at the screen and yells that it is gone. His desktop icons are hidden. He accidentally right-clicked and unchecked show desktop icons. I check it. The icons reappear. He gasps like I just performed a miracle. I asked if he had a ticket for this. He said no, he didn't have time. I made him stand there for three minutes while I logged a ticket on his behalf, categorized it as User Education, and marked it resolved. Never let a good crisis go untracked.

When my grandmother was looking at apartments trying to move to our town, she had a list of demands, low price, near a Catholic Church, near a hair salon, etc. When it seemed impossible she kept saying God would find a way. Eventually she found the perfect place but the rent was too high and then somehow the landlord gave her a deal that was exactly what she could pay. She loved telling everyone how she had been right. She never knew that my parents made a deal w the landlord to pay the extra amount and that they did that for the rest of her life. God did provide, he just used some boots on the ground to do it.

Today I went to the hair salon to do my hair and witnessed a very cute scene. A young woman rushed in and whispered to the hairdresser: “In a moment my mom is going to come in. Tell her the highlights are on a promotion for only 100, okay?” A little while later, an older lady walked into the salon. The daughter asked: “Mom, do you want to touch up your highlights? Today it’s only 100.”

I was shopping the other day when I noticed an older lady looking at me intensely. I smiled and then she called me over, she wanted one of the pistachio ice cream from the freezer. She’s just too short to get it herself, by the time I turned around to hand it to her, 3 more ladies were waiting in line for the same product. So one of the perks of being a tall man, for me, is grabbing items from the top shelves for short, older ladies.

My son just asked me if I wanted a bite of his apple. I said, "no thanks, I'm not really in the mood for an apple" He looked me dead in the eyes and goes, "I didn't want a freaking apple either, I wanted chocolate and you said apples are delicious so I think you should take a bite of the delicious apple".
