🚨 Ohio could become the FIRST state in America to abolish property taxes entirely.
A grassroots group led by Brian Massie and Leonard Gilbert is collecting signatures for a constitutional amendment to eliminate all residential and commercial property taxes — and put it on the November ballot.
What started as protecting seniors from being taxed out of their lifelong homes has exploded into a statewide movement after lawmakers refused to even meet with them.
Massie says his own taxes jumped 40% in 10 years.
Gilbert hears daily from seniors on fixed incomes watching their bills skyrocket.
They need ~413,000+ valid signatures by July to qualify. (They’re aiming higher for a cushion.)
Opponents warn it would blow a $24 billion hole in the state budget — threatening schools, police, fire, EMS, and rural services.
Gov. DeWine floated raising the sales tax to 18-20% to fill the gap.
Supporters fire back: Cut spending first. No new taxes. Lawmakers get a full year to reform before collections stop.
This could be one of Ohio’s biggest ballot fights in decades.
Would you vote to end property taxes?

@goneers No, your algorithm on social media just now picked it up because the launch happens today. Those who care about space things have had it in our algorithms for a year+

🇺🇸 President Trump says:
America is finishing its objective and then stepping back.
- No more world policing.
- No more automatic protection.
- No more guarantees.
“The Strait… that’s not for us.
That will be for France.
That will be for whoever’s using it.”

@TechX1320 @otomir23 You're a sad, sad person who has an irrational repeatedly disproven hate boner for a phone OS for whatever reason
English

@arm64_v8a @fred6279 @NearestCommit worked in the tech industry for 15+ years before leaving it because of bullshit like this lol
English

@TechX1320 @fred6279 @NearestCommit do you have any technical knowledge whatsoever? It is ported onto devices that don't have the entire set of hardware security features compared to a pjxel

@Arwenstar Apple is required by law in some parts of the world. You show on your profile that you're in Britain... it is required there

I’m interrupting a long break from here to share something I’m just furious about.
I switched iPads, from the one I was using to another (better) 1 we’ve had for years. I simply transferred my stuff from 1 to another…and I have to confirm my age. I knew this was a thing now but I never update phone or iPad so I knew I wouldn’t see that dreaded message any time soon, I totally forgot transferring my stuff would mean an automatic software update. Silly me, uh? But…silly government, actually. Bloody awful, authoritarian govt! Apple knows I’m over 18, they don’t need verification, it’s the BLOODY GOVT that requires it. I’ve had this iPad in my house for years, I’ve had an Apple ID for years, there is NO VALID REASON for me to verify my age to be able to (fully) use MY OWN DEVICE bought years ago!
Needless to say, I’m not verifying my age.
Nuh-uh. Not happening. It’s the principle. This government has no real reason and *no right* to impose this on people. They’re not ‘protecting children’, it’s laughable to believe they care about that - what they do care about is tagging and controlling adults. This is how the digital ID abomination starts, and I’m not complying - I never ever will.

@ArizThor @GrapheneOS @NearestCommit Calyx paused releases. DivestOS stopped making roms entirely. /e/OS is pretty far behind on their versions.
I have a feeling, graphene has ties with Motorola now, so I'm sure they'll be fine
English

@GrapheneOS @TechX1320 @NearestCommit I have an unrelated question. Google keeps taking little steps to close down everything google. Including AOSP. Do you have any back up plans?

@w411u @NearestCommit They have never said this. Yes, pixel's can be cracked all the same as any other android phone
used to work in data recovery, worked directly with tools like celebrite... it could do it
English

@TechX1320 @NearestCommit even fbi says only android they cant crack runs on pixel devices, thanks to security chips pixels use.
English

@NearestCommit Ok... have any of y'all looked at the source code of Graphene? Doubt it. Until you have, you're the clueless ones
English

@NearestCommit its not that amazing of a ROM. They do a lot of good privacy wise, but a lot of their claims with what the rom does are so outlandish
"Only on pixels and, now moto devices"
Ok, but explain why people were able to port it to galaxy and Razer Phone 2? Thought that wasn't possible
English

@fred6279 @NearestCommit no they didn't lol they claim all this, I don't believe it in the slightest
English

@TechX1320 @NearestCommit They did so while harming the security. To get official support all of the following requirements must be met.
#future-devices" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">grapheneos.org/faq#future-dev…
English

@Capt_Patavius @NearestCommit but it largely disproves a lot of their claims about "hardware not good enough for our security measures" when you can compile it like any other rom
English

@TechX1320 @NearestCommit That means the official team is mostly focused on developing for Pixel and Motorola while a third party was able to port it to Galaxy and Razer. Not that hard to understand
English

@AJbutHere1320 @NearestCommit the hardware features is what they claim. DivestOS had an AVB_Key for nearly every device they supported - from motos to samsungs to essential to lg and more.
And no... they weren't watered down ports. Graphene is Open Source. The RP2 rom (rip) was compiled from source
English

the majority of android phones lack certain hardware security features used by GrapheneOS and, in most cases, the bootloader cannot be relocked when a different OS is installed which is vital to protecting your data. it is not GrapheneOS but rather a watered down port of it that will not protect you from anything
