We’re in our 4th decade of the n-word spreading into popular culture as a non-pejorative way some black people address each other. Why are we still pretending that a non-black person imitating this usage has the viciousness of its original pejorative meaning?

In brief: we need to accept that when one person says “I am trans” it does not mean the same as when another person says that. And, indeed, that their shared political interest depends, in crucial and consequential ways, on that difference.

Brazilian footballer Jorginho says Chappell Roan’s security guard spoke to his wife and daughter in an “extremely aggressive manner” while they were staying at the same hotel as the singer. He said his daughter recognized Chappell and “simply walked past the singer’s table” to confirm it was her, prompting the security guard to approach their table and tell his wife she shouldn’t allow her daughter to “disrespect” or “harass” other people. He added that the guard said he would file a complaint with the hotel.

All word meanings - including the impact that they have in different contexts - are totally arbitrary, since they are just agreements between people who speak the language. The current arbitrary convention is that the N word without the hard R is sort-of OK if you're Black, but not if you're not.
(I don't think anybody *is* pretending, by the way, that this usage has "the viciousness of its original pejorative meaning". Nobody thinks it's *that* bad. It's just record-scratch awkward moment bad.)

I don't want to upset anyone but Lee Mavers is genuinely one of the most over revered musicians ever.
One all time classic, 2 other great songs and about 6 or 7 half decent ones.

Same person: this new tv sketch comedy show that hasnt aired yet is shit. I will also give it one episode max before I decide it’s irredeemable and slag it off online, leaving no room for improvement/ development of any future shows

There is a lack of TV sketch comedy.
And this new SNL show (based on the preview) is indeed shit.
I will give it a chance to improve big I sincerely doubt that it will. It just looks like shit.

@5tevieM It’s based on the worst or at least most overrated sketch comedy show of all time and stars a group of people that have a much comedic experience as child who has learned that farts are funny.🤷♂️
