Tangiers to Casablanca is 210 miles or around 4 hours of driving. It takes 2-2.5 hours on a high-speed train that runs 14-15x/day. For Easter, I drove 4.5 hours (280 miles) from Chicago to Detroit. The train takes 5.5 hours and runs just 3x/day. What are we even doing in the US?

I don't understand the logic of the California "high-speed rail" proposal to start running trains in the Central Valley with a two-hour connection to Los Angeles on infrequent commuter trains. The bare minimum strategy to salvage the project would be running high-speed trains on conventional tracks into Los Angeles. With a painful connection from comfortable, reserved-seat high-speed trains to slow, crowded commuter trains, only masochists and YouTubers will switch from flying.

Boeing 787-9 takeoff, doesn't retract landing gear.
The landing gear door automatically opened 1 second after liftoff, but pilots didn't retract the gear, so after 30 seconds, it closed.

@2024dion They've been doing some major work on the bridge, demolishing a building at its east end to allow for more open sightlines and constructing a new visitor center, among other things. I think it should be wrapping soon. Truly a marvelous piece of architecture.
