What the hell happened to Vegas? I can’t believe why they don’t understand why numbers are down so much!! On my break from a poker tournament today i witnessed something on my way to eat. A bartender @FlamingoVegas trying to charge $30 to some tourist after they lost $20 in the slot machine at their bar for a drink. I questioned it and he quickly threatened security. Guys like Manny at the flamingo deserve to be fired. And if their bosses are backing in their decisions, they also deserve to be fired. Numbers are down. Vegas sucks right now and it’s absolutely insane. No one wants to say anything.

I’m actually very familiar with it and I also think that this is going to fail. The thing thats special about Vegas is that the common folk can walk side-by-with the ultra wealthy. The ultra wealthy like to splurge their money but if the common folks aren’t there, it just ain’t the same. Overtime the wealthy will stop coming too.

The bartender should care that the customer is gambling?? That’s what actually makes the casino revenue. Why should the bartender, who gets paid by the casino he is working in, care about charging for a drink to a customer who is literally throwing money at the business with zero return? That’s the actual casino business model that worked forever

@TimReillyPoker @FlamingoVegas It's chicken and egg. If the tourists aren't there in numbers, they have to charge the ones that are there exorbitant prices. If they drop their prices to "normal" rates, there's no way it's sustainable. Vegas NEEDS volume.

And as somebody who tips five or 10 on every single drink when I get my comp. If they decide to be a prick and either make me go get my diamond card which I don’t care to go get or are charging tourist $31 for a drink that should be free. They’re getting a one dollar bill. So the bartender not taking care of us goes both ways.

@TimReillyPoker @FlamingoVegas Did this tourist actually lose $20, or did he just put in $20? What was the bartender’s rationale for denying the free drink? Was this the tourist’s first drink?

Honestly, I stayed and talked to the bartender for about 10 minutes. And he said they’ve all talked to corporate and they just don’t care. It sucks but if we all just tip zero, it will blow for the bartenders for six months, but long-term after they all quit corporate will realize the mistake they’re making and change things. If not, then we’re all fucked and might as well go get day jobs.

@TimReillyPoker @RobBrownPro @FlamingoVegas I am with my group of boys walking horseshoe to wynn stop at Harrahs for the quick "bar video poker cocktail" Im not drinking and order a water. they all get alcohol and gamble a bit I sit and drink my H20 bartender slides me a bill for $12 and just smiles at me.

It’s absolutely insane that they don’t understand why there’s 14 people at every casino. Even if they’re stupid business model is working because they are spending less right now, The long-term effects will ruin Vegas and with all the cross county sports betting and gambling. They won’t be able to recover.
