Monday
Wake up feeling like shit.
Take the dog out.
Drag myself to work.
Push through a tough day.
Tell myself I’ve earned a drink.
Tuesday
Wake up feeling like shit.
Take the dog out.
Drag myself to work.
Another tough day.
Another “reward” waiting that night.
Wednesday…
You get the pattern.
Different day.
Same cycle.
And people say giving up alcohol makes you boring?
What’s boring is living the same day on repeat.

@HeatherACofer I love this. I just read your post aloud to my wife and we both had a little laugh. Sounds like something that could have easily happened at our house with our youngest daughter.

This morning one of my kids requested I make oatmeal. I don’t make it often, so funnily enough this common breakfast item is a novelty in their mind. I whipped some up with the stirring help of my 4yo (he’s constantly begging to help in the kitchen). When I handed said 4yo his steaming bowl topped with milk and brown sugar he paused, took a deep breath, and said quietly, “This is gorgeous.”
I love kids.

@BiggestComeback So close, Chris. You will get it soon! And then march towards three wheels per side.

@davlhar05 @BiggestComeback BS. Failed reps on heavy attempts are part of the game we enjoy. The risk isn't as high as you think.
English

@BiggestComeback Seriously, what are you even trying to prove. Trying to show off and failing has nothing to do with health or fitness. Just the opposite.

@Marcopolis84 Nicely done, Marc. Your depth looks perfect to me from this angle.

Friend of mine owns a gym largely catering to student athletes. He does pretty big business with this demo. He’s taught his staff to use 80/20 rule for coaching the kids. 80% what they need (squat, bench, deadlift, press, chins) and 20% what the parents want to see. ie whatever “looks like the sport.”
He calls the 20% the “eye candy” and that’s what gets posted on his social media and drives the new business.
Said biggest shift for him in terms of new business via social media was weening himself off of talking to his peers and talking to his market.
Good business lesson in there. Many of us spend too much time talking to our peers rather than our prospective customers.
I’m making that mistake right now with this post.

A dude whom I was "dating" recently that I really liked left me after I mentioned a Bible verse to him. --- Never heard back from him again... Wow
My heart is completely broken --- but I will get over it. We were going to do something special for my birthday this weekend. I will never mention the Bible to another man again. 😞💔

@Ritablesyoga @StrengthDebates Have you ever tried the pin firing method using chin-ups for your tendonitis? I've used it three times myself with success each time. It will typically clear up completely within 2 to 3 weeks. I highly recommend giving it a try. youtu.be/77cCx1dZp70?si…

@StrengthDebates I want to try but I’m 54 and been lifting for decades. I’m also sick of this golfers elbow.

It’s too dangerous?? I’ve only heard this from people who’ve not ever even tried the low rep approach, and I’m confident they didn’t try it my way and here is why
One of the very first things I noticed when I made the change to low reps sets, I stopped having shoulder impingement. No more elbow tendonitis and other chronic injuries from overuse
We can thank Wollf’s Law and Davis’s Law
Wolff’s Law states that bone tissue remodels and strengthens itself in response to the mechanical stresses and loads placed upon it.
Davis’s Law states that soft tissues (like ligaments, tendons, and fascia) adapt by lengthening or shortening based on the sustained stresses or positions they are held in over time.
The fitness industry is full of examples of crab mentality.
Crab mentality is the attitude where people in a group try to pull down or sabotage anyone who is trying to improve or escape or problem solve, like crabs in a bucket pulling each other back down.
