What he said.

“As Ndigbo, we must be realistic and strategic in our national political choices. I have always said that the aspiration for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction is legitimate and something we should continue to work towards. However, politics is about timing and careful calculation. At this moment in Nigeria’s history, we must recognise the realities on the ground. President Bola Tinubu has just begun his tenure and is undertaking difficult reforms aimed at stabilising and repositioning the Nigerian economy. From my engagement and observation, many of our people are beginning to see reasons to give him support and allow his policies time to yield results. Governance requires patience and continuity. I therefore urge Ndigbo not to take decisions that may isolate us politically or make our votes ineffective in the next general election cycle... We must avoid wasting our political capital.... Instead, we should align ourselves in ways that strengthen our voice and bargaining power within the Nigerian federation. Our focus in Anambra and across the South-East must be on development, security, economic productivity, and constructive engagement with the federal government. Politics should not divide us endlessly. Elections come and go, but the welfare of our people must remain the priority. There will be a time to pursue higher national ambitions more aggressively, including the presidency. But for now, wisdom suggests that we consolidate our progress, build alliances, and support policies that can bring stability and growth to the country as a whole. That is the path I believe serves the long-term interest of Ndigbo.” ~ Governor Soludo, my leader
