@wiley_canuck I thinkbyour assessment of Gardlands worth is spot on. But the only rationale for trading him now for a light return is his NTC that's about to kick in. With Petey, your potentially largest asset, you should be patient. Let his value rebound with McKenna or Stenberg.

I’m seeing a lot of sighs at the idea of the Vancouver Canucks potentially having Ivar Stenberg over Gavin McKenna on their draft board. I’m genuinely curious as to why? Is it nationality? Is it projection? Skill set? I think both are incredible players, so just interested to hear.

He’s part of the failed core. Why would u want to hold onto him when we can likely get a 1st & prospect to fuel the rebuild?

@hirokidude @Jhammy51 Agree our future 1C is going to need to be drafted. Hence keep accumulating those 1st round picks & high end prospects. But never say never, marque players leave town for many reasons other than money. Look at Marner, Hughes, Rasmus A, Eichel just in the last few years

@tavk187__ @Jhammy51 The Rasmus Andersson trade just set the bar. Hronek is arguably just as good or near similar + has term on a killer deal. The return for a rebuilding team would be a windfall. It’s silly not to ask him to wave & be traded. Plus why would Hronek waste his prime playing years?

@BBLPWSTLR Well it was always “first or equivalent value” and I would’ve liked to see them figure out a way to get one. They certainly held an open auction, and while they got perhaps a bit impatient in not waiting it out to see if someone would bite b4 the deadline, it’s a solid return.

First rebuilding trade of the post Quinn Hughes-era is in for the #Canucks. Good to see draft capital prioritized. VAN also took back an expensive minor league contract to juice the return. Club doubled up on what comparable players like B. Tanev, Beauvillier returned in 2025.
