Le reste c'est l'histoire. Maintenant faisons un exercice de pensée. Partons du principe qu'on est dans une simulation. Les développeurs ont un objectif : l'espèce humaine doit avancer, explorer, créer, se dépasser. C'est le but du jeu. Larry Page, un des esprits les plus brillants de sa génération, voit l'humanité comme quelque chose de dépassable, de remplaçable. Et les échos qui remontent c'est qu'il est profondément dépressif. Les déclinistes, les anti-tech, les degrowthers, les bureaucrates du contrôle sont dépressifs parce qu'ils jouent contre la simulation. Les builders, les créateurs, les entrepreneurs, les artistes, les explorateurs sont vivants parce qu'ils jouent avec. Choisissez votre camp. La simulation regarde.

They can't threaten it, they've already done it. And they haven't detached the gulf states from the US, they've pushed them closer. At this point their only hope is that the US gets bored or distracted or that oil prices get catastrophically bad: but even that doesn't buy them a win, just breathing room. How do you imagine this works if the US halts a bombing campaign? Do you think we apologize and hand them the keys to our F-35s? Do you imagine the sword isn't STILL hanging over their head? Best case scenario for the Iranians is that the US unilaterally declares a cease fire. And the Iranians don't even get to hit us back if we stop bombing them because they know very well that a terror event against Americans just means we gain the political space to hit them much, much harder.

With Grok 4.20, I have been having some of the best interactions with any model ever - technical and personal. And this is the feedback I have been getting from so many of my friends and family. For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years. The mission of SpaceX remains the same: extend consciousness and life as we know it to the stars. It is only possible to travel to Mars when the planets align every 26 months (six month trip time), whereas we can launch to the Moon every 10 days (2 day trip time). This means we can iterate much faster to complete a Moon city than a Mars city. That said, SpaceX will also strive to build a Mars city and begin doing so in about 5 to 7 years, but the overriding priority is securing the future of civilization and the Moon is faster.

As an interviewee, @elonmusk was much more similar to the other engineers we've interviewed than to the other CEOs. His answers to technical, object-level questions were insanely good. But the second Dwarkesh & John asked how he handles company-building or problem-selection, he just kinda shrugged and gave an incoherent answer. He doesn't have a legible meta-system for decision-making or prioritization. He just combines a good intuitive sense of what to focus on with strong technical knowledge. So, one reason no one has been able to successfully copy the Elon playbook is that the playbook doesn't really exist! Or at the very least, it's not legible -- even Elon doesn't understand his own secret sauce.
