The Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture in collaboration with Zimbabwe Cricket, conducted a tour of key cricket infrastructure sites in Masvingo, Ncema Valley (Umzingwane) and the emerging facility in Victoria Falls earmarked for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. A delegation led by the Permanent Secretary Mr. N. Moyo alongside Zimbabwe Cricket leadership, revealed significant progress in infrastructure development, including the upgrading of first-class facilities in Masvingo, the establishment of a National Cricket Academy at Ncema Valley under a 100-year lease, and strategic preparations for a world-class venue in Victoria Falls.
The facilities collectively demonstrate a deliberate shift towards decentralised, inclusive and community-integrated cricket development, anchored on long-term planning, grassroots participation and international event hosting ambitions. Notably, the Ncema model stands out as a transformative rural infrastructure case, while Masvingo highlights heritage and first-class readiness, and Victoria Falls positions Zimbabwe within the global hosting matrix.
