#NHLBruins fans - if James Hagens makes the roster as a full timer for 2026-27, where should he play? And who gets demoted?

@Xialater I just think if they retained $1M, there would be a team out there willing to take on Korpisalo at 2x2. You could do much worse at backup goaltender.

@WhatsBruinBlog I'm more thinking.... Korpi with $1MM retained and Lohrei for.... Someone with 1 (maybe 2) years left at $3-4MM that a team REALLY wants to move off of. Think Arvidsson 2.0

@Xialater Retain? Maybe. Don’t know how much they would need to add to move off it. I’d say it’s one or the other. Boston is only paying him $3M per season right now.

@WhatsBruinBlog How badly do you want to do it, because I think the Bs would need to retain AND sweeten things a bit.

@richg6567 Not sure Carlson makes sense either based on age and window to win. He probably isn’t interested in Boston as a destination.

The #NHLBruins were extremely interested in Rasmus Andersson before the trade deadline in March. Unless his asking price has gone down significantly, Sweeney needs to stay very far away. They cannot afford to get locked into another costly contract for a middling defender
Bruins Cap@BruinsCapSpace

The Vegas Golden Knights lost in the Stanley Cup final and enter the Offseason with about $4.5 million in cap space (but can put Pietrangelo on LTIR as needed). I hope they sign Rasmus Andersson so the Bruins are not tempted to sign him in free agency.

@richg6567 I don’t think the Vladar signing is official yet but it is expected. Wouldn’t be shocking though considering most teams in the modern NHL try to run a goaltending tandem throughout the regular season. Gone are the days where we see a starting goalie play 60-70 games every year

Again, you’re looking at this with a revisionist mindset. They didn’t “trade Taylor Hall for Ian Mitchell”. They traded Taylor Hall to clear cap space, and took on Ian Mitchell (who cost virtually nothing) to fill out a roster that was up against the cap. You’re very free to criticize, this management group has made plenty of mistakes.

@WhatsBruinBlog @mariovince19 Yeah, a dumb reason that completely backfired. He was signed at a very reasonable value and wanted to be here. Good thing we traded him for Ian Mitchell and let Bertuzzi walk. Many Bruins fans are tired of being told these were somehow…not awful decisions worth of criticism

Can't believe I have to say this, but a friendly reminder that the #NHLBruins did not trade Taylor Hall because they didn't believe in him. They traded him because they went all in for the 2023 season, the team failed to get the job done, and found themselves in salary cap hell.

@WhatsBruinBlog @mariovince19 And what did they do with that cap space? We were all told by fans and Bruins credentialed media that cap space was going to be used to sign Tyler Bertuzzi. Instead, Sweeney traded Taylor Hall for nothing and walked away with neither of them. #SWEENIUS

@AlexGom59648231 @BruinsOh Exactly. Yes, in theory they could have made some attempt to trade away 3 or 4 players to shed the same cap hit as Hall had. But you still have to put a roster on the ice.

@BruinsOh @WhatsBruinBlog What you fail to realize is that the bruins would have to replace those guys with other guys who make similar money to make a full nhl team, you would have to do that while keeping hall.

As has been reported, James Hagens will not be attending. Between BC, Providence, Boston, the World Juniors and the World Championships, Hagens has played a ton of hockey in the last calendar year.

@WhatsBruinBlog @Ryanx2q There is a trade market for Darnell nurse currently who is making over 9 million with term, there absolutely would have been teams to take both of those guys, especially Grzelcyk. The both got signed the following summer didn’t they?

@mariovince19 @Ryanx2q You’re missing the point. Nobody would have wanted to take on Derek Forbort & Matt Grzelcyk. Taylor Hall had value. You’re not playing an NHL video game where you can just throw a 6th round pick onto a trade and get a team to take on anyone you want

@WhatsBruinBlog @Ryanx2q Matt Grzelcyk was also making just over 3 million at the exact same time, also with 1 year left on his deal. Who would you prefer Grzelcyk + Forbort for 1 year? Or Taylor Hall with term? My point is, there were moves to be made that could have resulted in keeping hall or bert
