Asking for a friend… Should there be a @hackerhouses leading into Breakpoint 2026… 🤷♀️ WDYT?

Just wrapped a call with @mattytay from @colosseum We didn't record it, so here's what's worth keeping for everyone building on @solana, especially if you're competing in the Frontier Hackathon. 👇 -- The first thing he looks at in a pitch video is whether a founder can teach him something about a market he didn't know existed. Real depth, from months of research or direct experience in a specific vertical. That's what separates interesting submissions from the rest. -- He also separates product market fit from founder market fit. Obsession with a vertical can be worth more than experience in it, as long as it's genuine. -- Every idea needs a "why now." DoorDash failed in 2000 and worked in 2015 because smartphones and GPS became a thing in between. What changed in the last year that makes your idea possible today? -- Perps were an academic idea before @BitMEX productized them. His view: there's a whole other class of financial products that haven't been brought on-chain yet. Whoever cracks the next one has a shot at a generational outcome. -- On unicorns: one team he mentioned as likely to reach that status soon is @kamino, well positioned for the RWA wave that's already coming. But his broader point is that the biggest outcomes in crypto have always been the cypher-punky bets. Nobody called Bitcoin, Solana or Ethereum early. @MetaDAOProject and @OREsupply are bets from their portfolio that fall into that same category. -- Most engineers he works with have stopped writing code themselves, they're orchestrating coding agents. He thinks it's made everyone more productive and opened the door for people without a traditional engineering background to ship real products. -- Competing in the Frontier Hackathon? @colosseum's Copilot is worth using. Pressure-test your idea against 5,400+ hackathon submissions, find out if it's already been built, and see where the real gaps are. -- AI processes the past, markets are forward-looking. Worth thinking about before you build an autonomous trading agent. -- Solo founding is doable, but a real disadvantage. When things go bad (and they will), having a co-founder is often the difference between pushing through and quitting. Thank you for doing this @mattytay 🫡 At @SuperteamBLKN we like to say "we rise by lifting others" and this is exactly what that looks like in practice.

.@Colosseum has backed 54 startups across 4 cohorts, investing $250k into each one. Tomorrow, @mattytay is breaking down their investment thesis, what defines a winner, and what he expects to be the next unicorn on @Solana. Open to everyone. Tomorrow at 6PM CET.
