@dannolan I don't know what they did to align 5.4 but I feel the responses are more consistently respectful of my bandwidth and capacity to read them. It's not quite a "keep responses terse" but an active and conscious effort by the model to keep me properly informed (Opus, meanwhile...)

Anything other than gpt 5.4 for code is just utter slop - Claude is more whimsical and better at writing and maybe design but 5.4 is actually consistently dependable

The difference between the two, for serious engineering work, is simply brutal. Claude Code with Opus is, when the task at hand is very complicated, borderline useless, while GPT 5.4 can do a reverse engineering mixing: hardware knowledges, major disassembly skills, and so on.

people keep talking about this like it's not blatantly obvious. anthropic clearly has a system that's auditing open source repos for vulnerabilities using their unreleased higher power models and sending fixes for them without revealing their current level of capabilities.

this is another thing about Anthropic's Claude Code source that i cannot stop thinking about and it raises some serious questions: why would the internal team need an UNDERCOVER MODE to contribute to public repos and hide the fact that they're using Claude Code?

Creating beautiful works of architecture can capture a higher margin, if builders are allowed to. They're not allowed to.
