Yesterday I made a post encouraging A&M fans to bring cotton balls to throw in the air at the game this Saturday if the Aggies won and moved on to play in the Cotton Bowl. It’s a tradition that dates back decades. However, others have pointed out that this is a gesture that could be interpreted very differently, with potential racial overtones. My intent was to revive a fun way to celebrate our team’s (potential) victory, but that should never come at the expense of doing something others could view as hateful and hurtful.
