@SnowBrains Because of that Ryan Reynolds Christmas movie where his friend insulted his rival with “he skis in his jeans”.

⛷️👖 Among skiers and riders, few things are considered more "Jerry" than skiing in jeans. 🤨

@plainionist Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent. It seems to me pretty inevitable that at a certain level we will stop understanding what is happening because we won’t have the language for it.

Serious question: If vibe-coded projects produce code humans can't read but AI can, do we end up depending on AI just to maintain our own systems? 🤔

@RedWavePress The irony is that, to me at least, the difference between this argument and the argument made for substantive due process, and against the purported rigidity of an originalist reading of the Constitution, is indiscernible.

NAILED IT: Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Birthright Citizenship: “Justice Scalia had an example that dealt with this situation. He imagined an old theft statute that was enacted well before anybody conceived of a microwave oven, and then afterwards someone is charged with the crime of stealing a microwave oven, and this fellow says, 'Well, I can't be convicted under this because the microwave oven didn't exist at that time.' And he dismissed that…” “There's a general rule there, and you apply it to future applications. And what we're dealing with here is something that was basically unknown at the time when the 14th Amendment was adopted, which is illegal immigration. So how do we deal with that situation when we have a general rule?”

One thing I love about Turkey is “kolay gelsin”. This means roughly “may it come easily”, also can mean “good luck” sometimes sarcastically, and a bunch of other stuff. But it is often said to workers out of respect and acknowledgment. Do we have this in the US? If not why not?

My favorite: A young Russian flies to America for university. A woman next to him says, “why are you going to America?” “To study,” he says. “”What will you study?” She says. “Propaganda.” “But my dear, we don’t have that in America.” “Yes, this is what I want to study.”

Another Soviet joke: The party secretary says: “Our harvest was so enormous that if we stacked them the potatoes could touch the feet of God.” Someone objects: “But in our country God doesn’t exist, comrade!” The secretary replies: “Correct. And neither do the potatoes.”
