Reading is out of the question

This little illuminated dragon is very happy about Pretext. He's too busy having fun to care about people's "hot takes" on how "it's not that special." (This little dragon also only works on desktop right now but maybe I'll do mobile later) illustrated-manuscript.vercel.app

@_chenglou Impressive work! Need subway surfers + markdown with collision avoidance.

My dear front-end developers (and anyone whoโs interested in the future of interfaces):
I have crawled through depths of hell to bring you, for the foreseeable years, one of the more important foundational pieces of UI engineering (if not in implementation then certainly at least in concept):
Fast, accurate and comprehensive userland text measurement algorithm in pure TypeScript, usable for laying out entire web pages without CSS, bypassing DOM measurements and reflow

@Dimillian We have expo/skills which is primarily built around Claude Code, but happy to dig in on codex semantics. github.com/expo/skills

@Baconbrix Do we need something for Expo? I might need your help

@Baconbrix Donโt they use react native for web and native for iOS and Androidโฆ

the craftsmanship of the iOS app has absolutely tanked but some of these bugs are fascinating. like I donโt even know how this would happen.

@stephanedascoli Congrats on the release! This is perhaps the most excited I've ever been about a foundation model.

for real, @expo is the best developer tool and an absolute Godsend
coupled with EAS for distribution, the entire mobile + native + web development lifecycle for web-first devs is solved.
really really proud of the great work @ccheever, @Baconbrix, and the team have done.

I want to distribute this pretty simple technical post on X but after ~1h I gave up:
1. inline code doesnโt seem to be supported. 2. creating code blocks is very involved, multiple popups instead of three backticks.
3. the language picker is wild. โCโ required scrolling to the bottom of the list of random languages like โbrainfuckโ.
4. The monospaced fonts in code blocks didnโt align correctly.
5. Text would randomly become h2 while typing.
I just want to copy/paste md thatโs roughly as complicated as a github comment.

@Gustavo05612447 Expanding the list every day! Just a lot of people on it

@Baconbrix Can't wait to try this! Joined the waitlist a while ago, when can I expect to have access?
English

React Native devs:
Your background agent can now hot reload in the cloud.
We built a CLI that tunnels your local @expo app to a cloud simulator so every code change shows up live.
Claude Code can now:
- Edit a component
- Watch it render live
- Confirm the change
No simulator on your laptop. No screenshots. A live dev loop, in the cloud, at scale.

@brentlok_ Got it working, had to remove other CSS that was causing uniwind to break: --sf-yellow: color(display-p3 1 0.84 0.04);
English

@brentlok_ Doesn't seem to work with platform colors on iOS
