Mamba-3 is out! 🐍 SSMs marked a major advance for the efficiency of modern LLMs. Mamba-3 takes the next step, shaping SSMs for a world where AI workloads are increasingly dominated by inference. Read about it on the Cartesia blog: blog.cartesia.ai/p/mamba-3

The newest model in the Mamba series is finally here 🐍 Hybrid models have become increasingly popular, raising the importance of designing the next generation of linear models. We've introduced several SSM-centric ideas to significantly increase Mamba-2's modeling capabilities without compromising on speed. The resulting Mamba-3 model has noticeable performance gains over the most popular previous linear models (such as Mamba-2 and Gated DeltaNet) at all sizes. This is the first Mamba that was student led: all credit to @aakash_lahoti @kevinyli_ @_berlinchen @caitWW9, and of course @tri_dao!

We learn to speak before we learn to read. Voice is the most natural interface we have. We just raised a $100M to make building voice AI as easy as a web app.

The interface of the future is human. We’ve raised a $40M Series B from CRV, Scale, Sequoia, and YC to teach machines the art of being human, so that using a computer feels like talking to a friend or a coworker. And today, I’m excited for y’all to meet the PALs: a new human-computing interface. PALs are emotionally intelligent, multimodal, and capable of understanding and perceiving. They can see, hear, reason, and even look like us. We’re releasing our 5 favorite PALs to start. Each PAL has its own distinct personality- from AI assistants to best friends. PALs: - Meet us where we are. Face-to-face over video call, on the phone, or even by text. - Are always thinking. They’re proactive, reach out first, remind you about what you forgot, or might just check in on you. - Understand us, finally. PALs can see us, understand our tone, emotion, and intent, and communicate in ways that feel more human. - Evolve with you. PALs have advanced memory, remember your preferences and needs, and adapt themselves over time. - Are capable. PALs can handle complex tasks — from responding to your emails to moving your schedule around to creating docs and doing research for you. Science fiction promised us a new human-computer interface, beyond the GUIs of yesterday, a human-like interface that would feel second-nature to use. That future never came, until now. Charlie’s story brings this idea to life. We’re excited for you to meet Charlie and his PALs for free at tavus.io Enjoy the film 👇

Huge congrats to the @cartesia team on launching sonic-3, their latest streaming text-to-speech model! What makes sonic 3 special: ---> Emotion and laughter support that brings real expressiveness to voice synthesis, all while keeping the same lightning-fast latency. Check out my example in the video :-) ---> 190ms median latency for real-time conversations ---> 27 new languages! ---> fine-grained speed and volume controls ---> 100 new voices that sound super natural Aaand of course, we added sonic 3 to the Coval benchmarks so now everyone can test it out and compare performance against other solutions. We also just launched a new TTS playground where you can hear the emotion-driven synthesis for yourself. Kudos to the Cartesia team for pushing what's possible in voice AI! 🗣️ Check out the examples by yourself via: benchmarks.coval.ai/playground

Always exciting to see researchers evolve into customer-obsessed founders. Especially love throwing down the gauntlet: "If...we can't make your voice AI better...I'll donate $5K to your chosen charity." @krandiash - Pro tip: also consider offering to dye your hair green.

Whoever nails real-time voice stands to win the interface layer to AI. Not screens. Not chat bubbles. One of the startups doing great work in this area is @Cartesia (disclosure: I'm an indie investor in the company). Their Sonic-3 low latency models are already laughing, emoting, and switching languages live.
