How did you learn about Lovecraft? Playing the game? Reading his works? Seeing films? Literally thousands of Call of Cthulhu players have told me in person that they played the game first, THEN started reading the books. I am so happy I was a part in introducing them to Lovecraft. Some of course, only play the games, and never read the stories, and that's okay too. Because roleplaying games are a new form of media - which is why I don't like scripted games. We already have scripts. RPGs are interactive. 1/3
