🚨 New preprint: Objective Quality Assessment for Precision Functional MRI Data Precision functional mapping (PFM) enables studies of individual-level functional brain network organization but requires substantially more — and higher-quality — data than is standard. Yet objective criteria for data sufficiency and quality remain unclear. Here, we introduce a framework for evaluating whether functional connectivity in an individual dataset expresses the large-scale network organization required for interpretable and replicable PFM.

Each expert: • Inspected FC maps • Assigned continuous quality scores • Rendered binary PFM usability decisions NSI closely tracked these judgments — better than scan duration alone — with strong monotonic associations and high discrimination performance. We then mapped NSI onto the probability that a dataset would be judged suitable for PFM, enabling a calibrated, probabilistic framework that investigators can use prospectively when evaluating new data.
