Iran has doubled its ballistic missile range using a two-stage satellite-like launch process, raising major security concerns, a former IDF air defense chief told The Jerusalem Post. ✍️ @Jeremybob1 jpost.com/israel-news/de…

The IRBM attack on Diego Garcia should be a wake-up call, and gives a lot more credence to the notion that the threat from Iran was truly "imminent." But the debate about imminence has been somewhat ridiculous from the get-go, and it's a product of a pretty obvious category error. In the civilian context, the law of self-defense requires that the person claiming the privilege be faced with the "imminent" use of force against them. There's an obvious reasons for this: if the use of force is not "imminent," that means you have time to call the cops. The law tries to minimize vigiliantism because the monopoly of force is supposed to be held by the state. But since the state can't be everywhere at all times, people are allowed to defend themselves and others from the imminent use of force. For example, say you discover evidence that your enemy has contracted out a murder-for-hire against you, to be completed at some point in the next week. Are you allowed to go to that person's house and kill him in cold blood? No. While the threat of deadly force was real, it wasn't imminent, and you could (and should) call the cops to have him arrested. Now, if the hitman shows up at your door, you can use deadly force, because of course that is an imminent threat. That logic doesn't work in the foreign affairs context. Once you find out that a foreign nation is trying to build a nuclear capability while calling for "death" to your country, there's no international law police you can call to arrest them. So the idea of waiting to defend yourself from an inevitable threat until that threat is *imminent* is ridiculous.

Iran had 20 years to prepare for this. This makes a lot of sense
Shaiel Ben-Ephraim@academic_la

I talked to two Israeli sources on why Iranian launches continue to increase, despite US-Israeli claims that they have destroyed almost all of the launchers. Here is what they said: 1) The 90–95% drop in volume claimed by CENTCOM earlier in the month was probably a temporary lull as Iran repositioned its remaining launchers into hardened sites. Independent satellite analysis suggests that a significant portion of the "80% destruction" claimed by the IDF actually hit high-fidelity decoys. 2) Despite fewer launchers, the lethality per strike has increased. Iran's shift to cluster warheads has allowed a single missile to impact multiple locations simultaneously, compensating for the lower volume of launches 3) Iran has successfully set up mobile, underground units able to fire at steady rates. Iran used that quiet period to move their remaining ~100-120 heavy launchers into "Super-Hardened" facilities 4) Iran is utilizing its Zolfaqar and Dezful road-mobile launchers. These units move from hardened tunnels to pre-surveyed launch spots, fire, and return underground in under 10 minutes, often before coalition drones can re-task for a strike. 5) Because these launching units are decentralized, it is very hard for US and Israeli intelligence to get info on them. Israel and the United States do not have an answer to this problem. That is why they are trying escalation on energy sources instead. But that is backfiring.

Virtually 100% of Republicans and 80% of the public wants voter ID, and yet Senate Republicans can’t pass the SAVE Act. Meanwhile, more than half of all Republicans and 70% of the public oppose a ground invasion of Iran, and yet it seems there’s a greater chance we’ll get that instead. I hope we don’t, but this is part of the reason why people have lost trust in our institutions, in our electoral process, and in “our democracy”. It’s also why a chunk of them have turned into histrionic schizophrenics. People feel so utterly unrepresented that the only thing which seems to still be within their control is the power to intentionally make things worse in the vain hope that accelerating through what feels like an inevitable decline will get us to the end faster. It’s a response to the conclusion that no matter what you do or who you vote for, you’re getting George Bush or Tony Blair. I am not an accelerationist. Neither am I a panican, a plan truster, a doomer, or anything in between. I’m just doing my best to describe a phenomenon I’m seeing unfold in real time: “If the US invades Iran, it will destroy faith in the electoral process for many of the very people we need to be activating in order to take this country back and save it from certain destruction.” And it’s not like losing faith in having the ability to change things somehow stops the relentless attacks that motivated you to become politically aware in the first place. I assure you, war with Iran isn’t stopping Leftists in my home state from passing legislation to turn Virginia into a sanctuary for illegal criminals who murder Americans on the street, or from openly discriminating against White men and treating them like second class citizens by their own government, or from continuing to promote DEI and trans degeneracy with your tax dollars. All of that is still happening, and it’ll happen to the entire country the moment these people get back into power at the Federal level. None of it is going away. The only thing that’s waning is the unified will to combat it because foreign regime change wars have become a wedge issue on the Right.

We've knocked out everything. We're roaming free!" "From a military standpoint, all they're doing is clogging up the strait. But from a military standpoint, they're finished!" LFG!
