@AST_TYFCOP No question in my mind this will happen again and again as long as community rates high if bal testing Is not routine. Tracheal aspirates at be more challenging as have to be validated separately and may have more mucous require additional treatment to render usable. #ASTTYF

T6h. Case reports have described SARS-CoV-2 PCR negative NP swab but positive in BAL. BAL PCR can be positive after testing of NP becomes negative. #ASTTYF

@RicardoLaHozMD @maricar_malinis @AST_TYFCOP We had another offer today accepted with same story with negative no swab and positive bal. I don’t think any lung donor should be used without bal sars co v 2 test. #ASTTYF

@maricar_malinis @AST_TYFCOP I think there are several issues that could have contributed: collection technique, duration of illness (with higher false negatives closer to the onset of infection). Thus, several factors may have contributed to the donor's negative testing and recipient transmission. #ASTTYF

T3e. Donor BAL at time of procurement was tested for SARS-CoV-2. Resulted positive with CT 8.5/9.5. #ASTTYF
