My little book, 'The New Life', is out now. Does being a Christian have to feel like such hard work? What most holds us back in the Christian life is not that we don’t give enough to God, but that we don’t fully enjoy what he has already given to us. unionpublishing.org/product/the-ne…

Before we dare to be a Daniel we must behold Daniel’s God.

'And break thy schemes of earthly joy That thou may’st find thy all in Me.' Newton In our sufferings, we're being prepared for a glory that far outweighs what we may now lose. An eternal joy that our earthly schemes of joy-finding could never even aim for, let alone match.

In glory, we will find all our joy and satisfaction in face-to-face fellowship with the Lord. That is the great goal of our new life, its completion and climax. But you can begin today... #gloryintoglory

One day, you will be perfect. Not just morally impeccable or free from all the little flaws that frustrate you. You will be complete and whole in the presence of Jesus Christ. That's a thought!

It is when, so captured by the love of God, we go out from ourselves in love towards others that his love is made complete and fulfilled in us. His love is not satisfied to be bottled up and enjoyed in peace and quiet, because he is constantly reaching out to draw more people in.

This morning, my wife had a message from @EE asking her to get in touch about an issue. Three hours later, we are no clearer, have had no meaningful help, and are extremely frustrated. I have never experienced such woeful customer service! I can’t quite believe it!

Oxford’s Clarendon Centre is being reimagined by Quinlan Terry. This is really good news! Classical-style architecture, open squares inspired by college quads, a fountain… oxfordmail.co.uk/news/25924543.…

If you stop consciously enjoying the love of God, even doing ‘the right thing’ will soon become the source of subtle entitlement, resentment, and bitterness. The surefire way to stay free and overflowing in your good works? Keep yourself in the love of God (Jude 21).

When the Lord’s cheerful kindness abounds to and in us, we become like him in our dealings with others. This is a long way from the legalism, guilt trips, and sense of duty from which we sometimes try to operate.

God doesn't NEED our good works any more than he needs our love and our worship. We are totally free of any burden, duty, or expectation. Yet hearts melted by the freely given love of Jesus will notice that those around us DO need our good works—our compassion, help, and support.

When Christians do good, we are not being forced to do so, like children who don’t yet know any better. We are walking out the way of Christ and the way of the cross.

Jesus is a Saviour for sinners. You can go to him with all your sin, because he is an expert in dealing with people like you and me. (As it happens, sinners are the only people he has ever dealt with.) unionpublishing.org/product/the-ne…

Can’t blame Freddie Steward or make him the scapegoat this week people. Almost like he wasn’t to blame in the first instance.

Whatever the ‘problem’ is with England, Twitter will need to accept that it clearly isn’t all somehow down to George Ford and Freddie Steward... 👀

I've often wondered if our relationship with our own ongoing sin is the best diagnostic tool we have for measuring our grasp of the gospel. Do I despair and beat myself up? Do I minimise and cover up? Or do I gladly go to Jesus with it – mourning but confident in his mercy?
