Congrats Villa but find it hard to get excited about English teams doing well in Europa League & Conference League nowadays. The resource gap between the PL teams and other teams in these competitions, is so vast. Forest getting to a semi-final with coaching turmoil said it all.

Wonder if it’s dawned on Uefa how much the dire format change has weighted the Europa League and Conference League in favour of English clubs. Premier League clubs have budgets to blow counterparts out of the water and Villa are blowing Freiburg away.

Ive done quite a bit of research on these games and the competition as a whole. The Fairs Cup/Uefa Cup was an intensely competitive competition. The European Cup was often a cakewalk until the ultra competitive SF and F, but there was very rarely a gimme in this competition. The Parma vs Juve and Inter vs Lazio finals, wowee there is serious talent on show there.
