Optimize your brain from the straight-out-of-the-box mode to the total mode for a life afresh, anew, dynamical. The performance is dimensionally different.

Chamath, what you're seeing are the internals of the upstream AI apparatus rife with biases, contradictions, limits, incompleteness/inconsistencies release these qualities as it naturally must into downstream outputs and actions. All the while, no sensing mechanism to self modulate to account for unintended consequences. Any adjustments that are made will continue to spring from the same source filled with these biases/contradictions/incompleteness that led to the problems in the first place.
There is an understanding that has gone missing amidst the euphoria, and hype of the new class of utopians with most seeming to have a tech background. There is a different way but it takes genuine interest, a seriousness beyond wordplay . . .

If the leadership in the AI movement doesn’t step up quickly, organize around the right “go to market” and create incentives to align everyone, this will be a generational fumble.
It is, sadly, happening before our eyes.

@ZachWarunek This is very simple, isn't it - ego and its self-centered pursuit of power, fame and control . . .

This is just shifting the 'complexity' to 'status' which continues to consume your most fleeting asset, time. Meanwhile, the actual movement of life passes by unnoticed, and you're left in a bounded enclosed field.
It's quite sad that gaining fame and money are considered a proxy for living life wholly while they are actually low-hanging fruit of life, a filter test to see who falls for it and then become ensnared in the loop, never to unlock the next game level.
Your brain can not understand what it is failing to realize beyond the trinkets. It is so vast, so deep, the unknown if front of each if only there is genuine deep care . . .
English

When your working life rewards you, it’s easy to ratchet up the complexity: homes, cars, travel, possessions etc.
I have found that all that complexity comes at the sake of your most fleeting asset: your time. Instead of building things, all of a sudden you’re dealing with minutiae and logistics. Instead of talking mostly to engineers, you’re talking mostly to non-engineers. The building stops…the business of managing self inflicted complexity begins.
It’s worth noting that the best players in the game (Buffett, Elon) have kept their life extremely basic, almost monastic/nomadic, as success ratcheted them ever higher.
I think it’s the biggest secret hiding in plain sight:
When the world upgrades your status, downgrade your complexity.
English

@elonmusk Have you wondered what lies beyond image and word space? Something infinitely more capable but very very few brains present that will understand this. It will be perhaps another 25 years or so where understanding will take place beyond the statement level . . .
English

@iamgingertrash @AnthropicAI This is getting away from intelligence. You're just re-engineering from within the trap humans are in of a very very old subcortical pathway. The new way will not present itself from the old . . .
English

@AnthropicAI I noticed this a while ago
You can also use these results to train a smaller predictive model that will help your RL sample efficiency by predicting (trajectory | state)

Agentic rollouts need a predictive reward model Emotions guide our agency on two axes; 1. Uncertainty 2. Predicted reward For instance; > Anger = low unc, low reward > Excited = low unc, high reward > Joy = med unc, high reward > Sad = med unc, low reward See what I mean?

@saaaaaaaaako17 You know the 'new world' requires each making it the new world now. People shouldn't just sit, wait, and look forward to it. It will never materialize this way. You are the world and the world is you - this is fact and not a fortune cookie saying . . .

You know, beyond "communicating with the eyes", there is also the benefit of true sunlight exposure to the eyes and body for at least brief periods each day. Sunglasses, eyeglasses with lens coatings and even home windows that have blocking effects, really end up robbing the body of the harmonizing effects of sunlight, in measure at least . . .

Well said. Somehow there must be attention to efficiency as this reflects an ultimately stable infrastructure and allows for workers and their companies to give attention to developing that which is novel which then more totally harnesses the reportedly very long long hours worked. Having said that, the passion of the Japanese should be reference value for all!

Elon,
Thank you for fostering this cultural Xchange to take place!
Honestly, it feels like interplanetary contact has been for the first time.
The "greetings beings of Japan, I come in peace, take me to your leader" sort of vibe.
You know, the Xchange stands not only for 'exchange' but maybe more importantly, the applying of the unknown variable 'X' to the change for truly new outcomes and not the type of change that leads to somewhere you already have been or know about!

@nikutaberuru And Japan, you see, for many in the U.S. you all come off orderly, respectful of one another and living daily life with a care, maybe even affection. It is pleasing to see and learn of this harmony - show us more such stuff...

I think the key point is whether it is done by force/quota mandates and punishable (by fines etc) if not adhered to.
You have to wonder, at what point does forced diversity morph into fragmentation and splintering which then renders a society unstable.
Seems like there should be a natural flow to mixing of groups where intelligence brings particular people together at just the right time producing the right outcome and all organically driven and not by artificial quotas or via hidden agendas of a group . . .
English

@hirahira22222 Working hard is great but what was the actual ouput of all that hard work? Not every input into daily work leads to value. So quality is very important and not just quantity or effort of work. And must pace oneself otherwise a string wound too tight will pop . . .
English

No, it's engaging in genuine dialogue with one another with a sort of care, without preconceptions, not letting language or distance interfere. This is what learning is about and only expands our horizon. Or at least for me, this is the approach that just makes sense and leads to real connections . . .

One must ask, at what point does forced diversification morph into fragmentation and splintering which then renders a society unstable.

@yoyonofukuoka Respectfully, consciousness is actually all conditioned and filled with myriad forms of identifications . . .
English

They truly appear harmonized with their surroundings and each other despite any superficial differences. From this seems to flow order, goodness, and intelligence. This then becomes a bidirectional cause-effect movement which lends to an inherent stability, beauty and a passion instilled in all action no matter how small . . .
