Another crisis of it's own making? #Football Australia has controversially decided to cap the 75'ers team as the First #Matildas on April 4, despite it's own independent review into selection criteria not yet being finalised. 17 former Matildas captains and more than 100 others say they have been 'bruised' by the FA's decision.

❤️SHE MATTERS: JENNIFER & GRETL PETELCZYC!❤️ For as long as men have been committing violence against women, women have been offering shelter, safety and support for women escaping that violence. And now we can't even support our mates, without being killed. Jennifer Petelczyc was helping to keep one of her friends safe from a violent thug when that thug chose to kill Jennifer and her daughter Gretl. Jennifer & Gretl Petelczyc are the two women who were killed yesterday in Floreat, Western Australia. The man who ended their lives took the coward's way out and killed himself. Jennifer and Gretl are the 37th & 38th Australian women killed in 2024. This brutal thug was hunting down his former partner who was Jennifer's friend. Media have reported the intended victim called Jennifer earlier in the day, warning her to hide because her ex was out for blood. He turned up at Jennifer's door and shot her and her daughter. As police arrived on scene, he killed himself. He was known to police and a licensed gun owner. Today, Australia is picking up the pieces yet again as the epidemic of femicides sweeps our country. Jennifer was a 59-year-old mum. Gretl was just 18 years old, a gifted waterpolo player and a student at the University of Western Australia. Jennifer was widowed in 2019 and she lived for her both daughters. Clearly (and I really hate that I have to say this) neither of these women were complicit in their own deaths - helping a mate in crisis is what we Aussies do. This was all Jennifer was doing for her friend. And yet there are those on social media already laying the seeds of blame firmly at the feet of Jennifer and if not Jennifer, then the man's intended victim. They say his former partner provoked him because she wanted a property settlement in the wake of divorce. Blaming the victims is a story as old as time itself, though ... and one that never changes.
