SpiceJet’s shock treatment or survival strategy- My BLR Kolkata ticket allowed free 15 kgs checkin and 7 kgs cabin bag. Being a PhD student I was carrying a bag with books of permissive limit of cabin bag size of 115 cm and a laptop bag. I did not checkin the bag, thinking size is within limits and I could afford to carry the books without damage. At the boarding gate SpicJet staff coerced me to pay Rs 6500 for 10 kgs including laptop bag as Xs baggage despite being apprised and aware of non utilisation of free checkin bag allowance of 15 kgs. My request for taking it as checkin as all other domestic airlines in India do was also rudely refused. No education or notice is provided at the airport by the airline for its unique norms and behaviour. My complaint on AIRSEWA vide ID : FH788687 (SpiceJet - Baggage) for refund of the charge is still awaiting positive response. Beware of the New ways for the Airline to survive. Can @MoCA_GoI intervene to convenience domestic travellers @PMOIndia @RamMNK

Bishan Singh Bedi no more? That’s like feeling a part of one’s childhood has gone to the other world. Bedi - along with Prasanna, Chandrashekhar & Venkatraghavan - was a much-loved household name when I played school cricket in ‘60s. It was a treat to watch him bowl. Om Shanti!
