@ryanwebler45 Obtaining evidence that could speak to the value or lack thereof directly could be an important part of making any changes, for sure!

@drrodebaugh Regarding evidence, what evidence do we have that internship year (or additional clinical training after that) improves clinical capability?

@ryanwebler45 For what it's worth, I have seen little evidence that states change licensing law--and especially not quickly--based on programs changing what they require. Unless, that is, those program advocate for the change themselves.

@drrodebaugh @aaronjfisher Also worth noting that internship doesn’t always even trigger licensure. I’m sure licensure requirements would change in the states you mention if internship were abolished.

@DrLaurieLB @aaronjfisher Can you clarify? And I'm not sure who you are addressing. In any case, APCS is by no means "the top"--we do not have the authority to enforce anything on anyone. We are hoping we can encourage dialogue that can lead to changes.

@aaronjfisher @drrodebaugh Does include abolishing post docs and licensing ? For change to occur it has to come from the top down. Sadly I see so many graduate students focused on meeting the required hours of testing, therapy and their research that there is no time for depth.
