The city says that sidewalks will cost 3x what the ordinance's estimate is, with no reasoning why. Even though it matches their own estimate from a few years ago. It sounds to me like the city does not want to build sidewalks. denverite.com/2022/10/12/den…

Denver is slowly making its streets safer for bicycling. But the 125-mile figure is inflated. Sharrows are not improvements and "bikeways" are only minor upgrades. You cannot compare this data with other cities with more ambitious programs (see eg Boston). axios.com/local/denver/2…

I’m properly annoyed by a specific board member on the new Front Range rail district. Why the hell would someone propose a 2 year term limit for board members on such a big, and complex project? The person who suggested it still doesn’t understand what their purpose is lol

5% of people ride bicycles, so we can't do anything for them. 5% of people drive electric cars, so we're planning a national charging network.

Anyone interested in meeting up with #GoatheadGreg Tuesday AM? We are planning to meet near Confluence Park and then ride out to the intersection of Cherry Creek & Highline Canal trails. The plan from there will depend upon the number of volunteers. #GoatheadPatrol #bikeDEN

There’s one cyclist in Denver, a superhero of sorts, who made it his one-man mission to rid the city’s bike trails of troublesome goathead seeds. His name is Greg Skomp — or, Goathead Greg. buff.ly/3BIkHbJ

Picking some equipment up downtown today. Front office worker: Why didn’t you just park in the bike lane? No one would’ve said anything. Me: 😐

Americans will go on vacation to a place that isn’t a car sewer, walk and take public transit for 8-12 hrs. a day, notice a change in their health, and attribute it to “they must not have the Illuminati chemicals here”

Friend just texted me that he went to Europe for 2 weeks, drank like an animal, ate whatever he wanted and lost 10 lbs. Europe proves you can be a degenerate and still be healthy…there’s something destroying our metabolism in the USA.

On second thought, maybe creating a horde of low-paid, untrained delivery and taxi drivers whose only incentive is to drive as fast as possible while staring at their phones was a bad idea.

A single speed enforcement cop in the city is big enough news to hit the top of r/denver where the thread is full of cagers who are angry about it. Very healthy society we have built.

@BryanByBike I don't report things as often as I used to. I've never had a satisfying outcome. Good responses happen, but for the most part it's "ticket closed <reason that makes no sense>" But I agree that it's important

So when I ask #BikeDEN if they "reported" something and no one responds, may I assume the answer is no b/c at best they only tweeted about it?

@alebikexson Doesn't this stretch of Franklin already have sharrows? IIRC They've been there forever. The project is to make it a "neighborhood bikeway" (sharrows). Are they just pretending to improve existing infrastructure to juice the stats and meet their 125 mile goal?

DOTI is bragging about these upcoming "bikeway corridors". Like 90% of it is sharrows. What are we even doing. Who is ultimately responsible for this mess?

This is pretty nuts given our Guv’s transportation plan depends on a huge adoption of EV’s to meet his climate goals. And he won’t even drive one. Doubly painful that he refused to fund transit so Coloradans are forced to drive their combustion engines ever more miles.
Jesse Aaron Paul ☀@JesseAPaul

Polis: "I drive an internal combustion engine, and I'm proud to." He said this after asking Ganahl whether she has a Tesla (she does). Ganahl said people can't afford electric cars. #copolitics
