I can't agree with this. Smoking may be a grim habit, but what an adult does to their own body is their own choice. This sets a nasty precedent. Should the state have opinions on other areas of lifestyle, or diet, as well? It's none of their business. @anon_opin TV and movie productions don't use real tobacco in cigarettes. They are usually herbal cigarettes.

I don't enjoy the smell of vapes but they're better than cigarette smoke. We can now stop growing and processing tobacco. A small exception should be made for TV and cinema productions, which will need tobacco products for actors portraying 20th century people.

@Emma_A_Webb Smoking is fucking disgusting and last time I checked, non smokers didn't have the choice to avoid breathing in the disgusting smoke from cigarettes. This only benefits everyone.

I don’t smoke. Never have. I have no skin in the game. But this really is draconian. It should not be within the power of the government to interfere with the personal choices of citizens like this.

@friztbox @CriticisingUK @ColeFusionHQ No, they are getting it in exchange for some of their benefits, which they get for free. They don't end up with a car because of working for it, it's because of the generosity of others whose tax money is taken to pay for it

Motability covers 815,000 people and until July comes with a 20,000 mile annual allowance, nearly three times the UK average. Surely cutting it to 10,000 and removing free EU breakdown cover is a devastating assault on the vulnerable high-mileage driver.

@FietserGlasgow @but_cyclists The problem is road traffic law is primarily written for motorists and doesn't very well take into account how dynamic bicycles are and how they move differently. Here's a four way crossroads that I can legally cross on red, because at no point am I crossing the stop line.

@but_cyclists I have no idea when I'm waiting at a light if the driver behind is going to close pass or drive into me. So the best thing to do is go if it's safe to do so. Idaho Stop Laws enable cyclists to treat a red light as a stop sign. It makes junctions safer.

Saw a guy riding a riding a tandem bike solo. First time for everything. And of course he went through a red light 🤦

@bardne53756 @railnigel In an ideal world, we’d have the warmer lighting in the whole train. But in 2019 we took the decision we did because we were mindful of the amount of waste that would be created if we replaced all of the brand new 4000k light tubes.

This is a good point - I’ve always felt 800 series lighting is too harsh even in daylight. Does anyone know if there is a dimmer setting or are they on or off?

@friztbox Looking around 2.7mile per kWh according to screen, I do try to drive EVs efficiently as I can, so no heat on or climate etc.

I used the Arnold Clark chargers at Sighthill, Edinburgh today. Started off at 56% (147 miles), 10 mins & £5.05 later I have added 28 miles which is now showing 66% (175 miles of range). 🚘🔋 Worth noting that the charging speed didn’t go above 59kW.

@modernheroestv I have the 40. Never rapid charge it. I'm the second owner and the first one did 97 rapids in the first 45k miles.

@friztbox It’s a bit dramatic to say it’s really bad and should be avoided - it can cause problems if you’re doing it several times a day every day but normal use is fine. The 40kWh pack in the ZE1 is more prone to those types of issues mind, presumably due to density.

@AutoInfatuation @DavidRobjant What other crimes do you think people on bikes shouldn't be allowed to report? If one witnessed someone stealing your car and driving off, would you not want them to report that? What about someone attacking your wife in the street?

@DavidRobjant Maybe read it again David. My point is a busy body on a bike shouldn’t be the one catching someone who’s driven around contrary to our rules of the road for the last year or so at the very least.

Now I’ve never liked what this chap stands for and he endures an immense amount of abuse for it which is to be expected I guess. Some of it is utterly abhorrent though that I see directed towards him. But in cases like this I don’t know how to feel, he’s reported and potentially helped to take someone off of our roads who’s clearly been driving uninsured, seemingly untaxed and without a valid MOT because he recorded him on his phone whilst driving and it’s all stacking up, resulting in a ban. None of us want these types of people on the roads, especially when we pay horrendous amounts to run our cars ‘legally’ but I feel this needs to be the Authorities jobs to catch these people not a random bloke on a Bicycle out and about in London 🚲🤷‍♂️
